28mm buildings for a not-Plancenoit town?

Post by Ed Youngstrom » Sat Sep 17, 2011 8:11 pm

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer of buildings suitable to make up a small town that could stand in for Plancenoit, La Haye, St. Amand, Ligny, etc.?

There was a post a few days ago (not necessarily here) which I thought I bookmarked but can no longer find, that had a brilliant 15mm Belgian village made up with items from a single company. I would like to do the same in 28mm.

Perhaps my Google-fu is just failing me, but all I can find are La Haye Saint, Hougomont, and stuff that looks more Tudor or Dark Ages.

Thanks
Ed

Ed,

I use Hovels' European Range myself for these. Not a big range but they fit the bill. Link below:

HOVELS

Click on the codes and it will show painted examples.

Ray and Ed,

It's my ambition (when I get some cash and space) to get the Hovels' Hougoumont to use both as the Château itself and to be broken up for other towns and villages as Adrian Howe has done. Those are great pictures, Ray. I didn't know you were into 15mm Napoléonics as well.

Might get it around my eightieth birthday at this rate.

Thanks all.

Those pics are both impressive and inspiring, especially the 28mm Hougomont.

The Hovels 28mm stuff - are they solid resin casts or does the roof lift off to facilitate the placement of troops inside?

Hello Ed,

Sorry for my late reaction to your question but out of what you are searching for I would try the following companies:

Worst case scenario (for your wallet) IMO not realy cheap but of a high quality:

http://www.grandmanner.co.uk/

Cheaper but also of good quality:

http://www.navigatorminiatures.com/

Hope that helps

Thanks for that Ray - I'm tempted now...

I have to correct that. The Napoleonic side of AB Figures was not sold to us. Tony Barton decided to restructure the company and gave Eureka the exclusive rights to the Napoleonic figures, while the UK arm (Mike Hickling's 'AB Figures' franchise) took on the WWII ranges.

Tony still very much owns the AB Figures Napoleonic ranges! And I can tell you he is is still actively involved in their further development, with lots of new figures being sculpted as we speak.

Pay attention that man! :D I have always used my real name on here when posting on matters Eureka (seems only fair to avoid any confusion of the 'sock puppet' variety).

I've got thousand's of them and I'm still not finished...

Ray.

We manufacture and sell the AB Figures Napoleonic ranges Ray (and the small number of 15/18mm Ancients Tony has made), and Ian at Fighting15s is indeed our UK representative for those in the UK who prefer to deal locally. Yes - Tony is still sculpting new 15/18mm Napoleonics. We've released around two or three new items into the range each year for as long as I can remember (French cavalry casualty sets were the last one I think). Tony is currently putting the finishing touches to a revised and much expanded Revolutionary Wars Austrian range, plus a major new release scheduled for next year - but I'm sworn to secrecy on that one for the moment.

I love your AB's. Those Lancers are especially lovely!

(Oh - and apologies to Ed for Hijacking his buildings thread…)

Günter,

Thanks for those links. Was there something you had in mind in particular at Navigator/Magister? I saw one "German" house (which, amazingly, I already have a copy).

Did I miss something?

To the rest...nice AB eye candy and interesting history. Hijack all you please! :P

Sorry Ed,

seems that I have missed that detail. Out of about 15 companies I know nobody seems to support what you are looking for. All but Grand Manner
I only know just a german website who is selling townbuildings not quite cheap because they are "sideproducts" in their cause to build a super large diorama in scale 1:1 of a battle near Leipzig 1813.

You may take a look
