I have a unit of Scottish infantry ready to paint from the Front Rank range for 1685-1700 in bonnets and plaid.
The question is, did any infantry units wear this dress for the Williamite wars in Ireland or Scotland?
I cannot find any reference so far and may have to use a bit of imagination (I can get away with it as most of my gaming is solo)
Any help would be appreciated
And a happy new year to you all
Mike

Hello, Mike.
I would say that a "must have" reference for you is Stuart Reid's excellent book "I met the Devil & Dundee - The Battle of Killiecrankie 1689" printed by Partizan Press & available through Caliver Books
http://www.caliverbooks.com/bookview.ph ... 1&id=15607
It has a good history, excellent uniform detail for both sides & some colour plates of uniforms & flags.
This should do the trick for you....& probably entice you to build more units!!
Cheers, Rohan.

Or you could look for 'The Last Scots Army 1661-1714' also by Stuart Reid or 'The Scots Army 1661-1688' by Charles Dalton.
Cheers
