Dragoons in fur hats - painting options

Post by Orctrader » Sun Jan 15, 2017 12:07 pm

I recently purchased a few dragoons from Northstar's 1672 range. Expecting them to be in "floppy hats" they are in fact all wearing the "fur caps."

I'm looking for some painting options.

As I'm only a painter I don't really mind nation or regiment, but would like them to be "realistic" as opposed to Imagination. (An option I will go for if I can't find a real colour scheme that grabs me.)

Any suggestions/links please?

I have a nice image of a Polish dragoon, black boots, grey coat, red cuffs, brown fur hat with red bag. Simple but nice. This is how I will be painting my GNW Polish Dragoon regiment when the Warfare ones are ready.

Havn,t seen the figures but bavarian horse genadiers, austrian grenadier companies of dragoons or dutch guard dragoons..but the above would depend on what type of fur cap it is.

Thanks.

The Polish option looks promising. Seeing pictures of Polish dragoons in a variety of coat colours when I google. Roger's uniform description sounds interesting to paint.
