Hello Ray

lovely figures, just a little quibble I don't see the link with Wales for the 24th. Up to 1881 they were at best a Brummagen regiment (2nd. Warwickshire). Do you have any evidence for pre 1881 Welshness? (Also it was the 24th. at Rorke's Drift not the 23rd.)

Best
Ben

Thanks a lot Ray,

It wasn't you it was pabblo with the Rorke's Drift thing, my mistake. Still, I look forward with eager anticipation for your Horse being shown here. And i can tell you I will be stealing your colour schemes for my WSS British!

Best Ben

Hi Folk's,

After seeing Clarance's BLB2 Army Roster Sheet I'd thought I might have a go myself in designing a Army Roster Sheet for my British that fought at the Battle of Blenheim 1704.
I designed it using Microsoft Excel 2007 and then saved it as a JPEG file so that I could show you all on here....
See what you think....

Regards,

Ray.

Ray,

Very nice, Sir. Any more like that and Clarence will be redundant! OK, I've completed my twelve battalions of infantry so, in about two years time when I get the cavalry and artillery done, I'll be asking you to knock one of those up for me.

It looks great.

Jim

Ray,

That roster looks great!

Question, did you purposely leave off the tick boxes for unit strengths?

Justin

Hi Justin,

As you will notice from the Army Roster Sheet each infantry regiment has three different coloured boxes, this represents the three bases to each Battalion/Regiment.All you do is when you receive a casualty you mark it in the first box and when you receive six casulties you move onto the next box and so on.
For the cavalry this is different as regiments can be made up of multible squadrons generally from one to four, but may be larger i.e. the Gendamerie de France at Blenheim had eight squadrons in total.
This is why I've left a single line box for each regiment to mark off casualties and the same with the Artillery.

Hope that helps,

Ray.

Hi Guy's,

Here is the long awaited cavalry for my Marlburian British force who were present at the Battle of Blenheim 13th August 1704.
I've started with Maj.Gen.Cornelius Wood's Brigade (5 Sqds), this consists of two regiments, Wood's Horse (2 Sqds) and Lumley's Horse (3 Sqds).
The uniform and flag information comes from the Robert Hall colour plates that I purchased from the Pike & Shot Society website.
You may also see that I've tweeked about slightly with the image's from the plate's to the finished figures and for the better I would say....
I would also like to thank my learned friend Iain Stanford or should that be my Blenheim guru as he has helped with many a question on various subjects including would you believe the breed of horse used by the British Army of the time.
Iain's book "Marlborough Goes to War" also includes a OOB for Blenheim and this has been my bible, so to speak, while building this force.
I think you'll agree my painter Paul Armer has done a fantastic job on these figures, but praise also goe's to Bob Lorton who painted eleven of my infantry regiments.
Some brigade shots will be taken next week, but for now you'll just have to make do with these.

Pyuredeadbrilliant

Ray,

What were the two straps going down each bugler's back used for?

Nicely done. Looks like overpainting the buttonhole lace on the troopers worked out ok.

Hi Guy's,

Thanks for all the kind comments, I'll be sure to pass them on to my painter.

Justin, keep away from the candystore.

There so the rider's either side of him can pull him off his horse if he begin's to get on their nerves.
No, but seriously it's just a part of his uniform, you would need to ask Alec Brown of Front Rank that question. They are not wearing them on the Robert Hall plates.

Cheers,

Ray.
