Through this thread I want to show the simple soldier's equipment.
Pictures from a terrible fate that takes place 1718-1719 in the Norwegian mountains
The Carolean Death March (Swedish: karolinernas dödsmarsch) or the Catastrophe of Øyfjellet refers to the disastrous retreat by a Swedish Carolean army under the command of Carl Gustaf Armfeldt across the Tydal mountain range in Trøndelag around the new year 1718-1719.
At Handöl chapel on the Swedish side of a few kilometers from the Norwegian border is also a mass grave with 600 Carolinians who died a few days at the beginning of the 1719th

In the 1680s introduced the Carolinian uniform in Sweden. Did Karl XI impression of the French army's clothes? Four coats of the Army Museum collections indicate that.
The coats are probably of French origin to the 1670s. They may have been used as a model for the introduction of the Caroline's uniform type in Sweden, in the 1680s.
Head of guard Regiment of Horse, Colonel Nils Bielke, was in the middle of the 1670s in Paris to acquire luxury goods of Charles XI's upcoming wedding. Bielke ordered including a new standard to the guard Regiment of Horse . 1677 the year after his return, he bought the Regiment clothes and apparel lining to 1000 new coats. Even the French coats may have been part of the bargain.
The idea that the coats would have French origin comes from the fact that the French army underwent a major uniform reform in the 1670s. Some French Guard regiment got the uniforms are almost identical to the coats of the Army Museum have now. Cut and color scheme is consistent. A few coats of this type were then not yet in either Russia or Prussia. Once they were there some 20 years later, they chose other colors. In Russia became such color combination of red and green the most common.
