Schomberg's horse at the Boyne

Having almost finished the last regiment of Huguenot foot, will be making these the 1st unit of horse I'll be tackling.

Anybody got any references for the uniform, grey possibly?

Hi Bob,

Got this from "The British Army of William III" by C.A. Sapherson:

Coat- Light grey, Trim/Lace- Red, Breeches- Buff, Buttons- Yellow (probably
means brass)

No colours mentioned for waistcoat or stockings. Hat lace is white.

Buttons- Yellow (probably
means brass)

May also mean wooden covered in yellow cloth especially for other ranks , or brass for other ranks gold or gilt base metal for officers yellow being short for yellow metal. The previous is not based on certain specific knowledge but on generally what the term has meant else where.

there is an illustration of schombergs horse in the battle of the boyne a battle field guide by harman murtagh. it also has illustrations of glamoy's hosrse, sarfields horse , lord dugans dragoon's , lord clares dragoon's and the kings life gaurd as well as some jacobite infantry regiment's . well worth a read . think i got my copy of it from the boyne honey company.

There are two books produced by the Boyne Valley Honey Company, one for grown-ups, written by Dr. Murtagh, and another for kids, entitled "The Drummer Boy's Story", by Brenda Maguire.

Both have cover illustrations by Richard Hook. The Murtagh book is the one to get obviously, but is the Maguire book worth getting too for more illustrations, or do they share much of the same work in this regard?

the drummers boy story only has illustrations on the front cover and rear cover. the only uniform illustration is of a drummmer in king james footguard. the book is ther story of david peavoy a 12 year old who in list's as a drummer in king james footguard's.i would say that it is actualy more a book for children than for adult's.
