For years I have been troubled by the colours for the Danish Prins Georg Regiment that appear in Sapherson’s booklet on the Danish Army 1699-1715 and on the so-called Wagner plate. I have discussed this with Torstein Snorrason of Denmark, who has done a great deal of research on the Danish Army of the late 17th and early 18th Century that have appeared in the Chakoten magazine, and in translation on my old webpage, Northernwars. We are both of the opinion that these colours are not those of Prins Georgs Regiment. You are free to agree or disagree. In any case, I have decided to try to trace the origins of the colours in Sapherson’s booklet, and I have place my notes in a pdf file that is available for download at http://northernwars.com/Colours%20of%20 ... giment.pdf . It is too large with images and all to place directly on the forum.
Once again, this is my take on the subject, and you are free to disagree. I won’t fall on my sword if you do. If anyone has any comments or questions, they are free to contact me.
Regards,
Dan
