Barry,

Just a short message to say many thanks again for the taster for ULB version 4. I'm really looking forward to receiving the full version. Once its available, I was wondering whether you'd be in favour of allowing a thread in which members could contribute our own suggestions for additional ULB Event Cards - in period of course, and in the fine spirit of the ones you have already posted. And of course totally "unofficial", so as not to conflict with the "official" ones !! :D

I though this may be quite fun. I have loved, and used, the idea of event cards in many of the games I've umpired over the years - it all stems from the Great Don Featherstone and his book "Solo Wargaming" which I must have borrowed from the local library when I was about 12! I'd be very happy to contribute a couple of my favourites.

Very best regards and many thanks again,

Adam

Hi Adam,

a great idea as far as I am concerned  8)

I have no problem with Subscribers contributing such ideas. I have produced thirty events in total.

The way in which the event is decided will become obvious when you receive Rev4.
I'll be keen to see any ideas that anyone has as I can use them too!!!

Start whenever you like :D

best

The event cards are great, Barry. I've always used similar methods in my games, taken from an old Featherstone book. They really add a great dimension to the game.

Now if we could just get your mods for the ECW...

Quindia,

Join the queue lol. I have been nagging Barry for a while now about his ECW mods, I even found 2 copies of 1644 for myself and Paul McC so we had the original rules, I will be seeing Barry at Claymore however and will nag him in perosn rather than via this forum :) (but nt too much, I know he is a busy man, and he has just given us ulb rev 4)

ULB - NICE TO SEE.....

Post by barr7430 » Sat Aug 06, 2005 5:51 pm

Nice to hear(and see) that ULB seems to be picking up a little head of steam. It's being used by some groups in the US as well as here in the UK.

Thanks for that..makes it all worthwhile :D

Have had a really great response to ULB so thanks to everyone for that !:D :D

This has encouraged me to go back and do a little bit more work on it with perhaps the next rev having sample Army lists.

cheers

That would be great Barry! Thanks alot for the great efforts you put into these rules, and for making them availlable to us all.

I'm planning to use 15mm Venexia miniatures. I love 28mm more, but I want to have enough figures to start playing battles as soon as possible. This will be my first 15mm armeis in 15 years.

Cheers,

There have been may questions(both on the Forum and thro' PMs) regarding rule points and further 'exploitation' of the ULB Rules and principles for period 'in the range of' ie ECW, TYW, GNW, SYW.

I think they next Revision of ULB will require a reworking of the formula and perhaps the replacement of some pics with more diagramatic explanations of certain points. This may take a little longer than the normal updates but stick with it, I'll get there :D

Glad to say that the rules seem to be popular and in use which is very nice.

Hi Barry,

Another request for those rules please, I have Captain General by the Pike and Shot society, Lace Wars from Caliver books and Ga Pa from Baccus, have been thinking about buying Polemus WSS rules. I like rules!!! my prefered set at this time is Ga Pa but you do have to work to get them right.
I am gaming WSS with Front Rank, cos I help Alec sell them at the shows!!!

Rev4

Post by barr7430 » Sat Oct 29, 2005 10:40 pm

I sent out about 30 e mails tonite to Subscribers who have joined in the last 3-4 weeks. This contained ULB Rev 4 plus associated Playsheets, counters etc.

Some of your mailboxes have SPAM filters which means that the mail was rejected. Sorry but don't have time to go onto your approved lists. and fil in forms  ..
did my best !

cheers
