Ray,
read again what's in Hall's book.

What is great in his latest e-books, that he clearly shows his sources.
Sometimes it means that we are left with knowledge that certain regiment was reported:
- in red with blue in 1690 (as shown in camp list)
- in red with black in 1698 (from painting we know only from copies as original was lost during WW2)
- in white with red in 1708 (as derived from cloth list)
and that we don't know how it looked like in between
And (sadly) this is the real information we had for most of the LoA / WSS troops.

Historians like Kuhn or Goldberg reconstructed uniforms of particular units without informing us about some uncertainities or gaps in data. In Hall's books you can trace these data and literally reconstruct the uniform by yourself. So go to Hall and read carefully what is written about regiment's uniform.

Ray,

In my opinion, you should go with Hall. On page 66, footnote 147, and Page 67, footnotes 148, 149 and 150 he provides lists of clothing purchases for the regiment. These were taken from the Hessisches Staatsarkiv in Marburg, and all of these mention “rottuch” or red cloth. Also the Gerpines List for 1691 describes the unit as blue/faced red.

Hope this helps.

Ray,

Once again, page 68. The Leibfahne captured in 1689. Others are probably battalion colours. The 1706 date is the date of capture, not the date the colours were made.
