Blue Coated Jacobite Cavalry?

Post by Redmist1122 » Thu Dec 26, 2013 6:29 pm

Gents,
I know I'm reaching here, but is there any cavalry unit out there from the NYW, preferably the Jacobite Irish, that wore blue coats? I know there are a lot of grey's and reds, but trying to add a different flavor.

Thanks.

Greg,

Barry used a dark blue coat for Abercorn's Horse, not sure if that was a definite colour or just a hunch

Bob,
You're on it!!! I just happened to have that flag too. This site is like the library of Congress, a vast resource of stuff...now I remember that picture.

Thanks again.

Before I am stood in the centre of a circle and have my eyebrows threaded by the 'WFP Jacobite Uniforms Chapter' I fancied a variation on grey and so used 'Luftwaffe Blue' as the core colour for Abercorn's. I figured it could have been a logical weathering from a variety of colours including a blue. I think it looks very nice 8)
Come and get me WFP! I'm ready

Chaps, red or grey in various hues...You pays your money and takes your choice, but blue as in "royal", "oxford" or "prussian"...fraid not.

Belated Best wishes for Crimbo, but early ones for the new year.....

Gents,
I unknowingly followed Barry's color match with a grey-blue mix, and it does look very nice. I already have the Oxford Blues. To be honest I wanted to convert the French cavalry unit, "Dauphin" and to do little effort in painting and conversion.
