Lineage of Bavarian infantry regiments (1680-1700)

Post by Ronan the Librarian » Fri Oct 17, 2014 2:15 pm

Can anyone provide links between the following groups of regiments? I have pretty good records for the cavalry and dragoons, but not for the infantry. Thanks.

Early 1680s
- Puech
- Montfort
- Steinau
- Rummel
- Preysing
- La Rosa

Mid-Late-1690s
- Leib
- Kurprinz
- Harthausen/Mercy
- Maffei
- Lutzenberg
- Rivera/Tattenbach
- Spielberg (no, really!)
- d'Octfort
- Bettendorf

Hi,

Hope I can help. Information, spellings and dates from Georg Tessin :

1682 Puech, 1685 Schwanenfeldt

1682 Montfort, 1688 Disbanded

1682 Steinau, 1694 Sesprez, 1696 Luzelburg, 1705 Disbanded

1682 La Perouse, 1683 Rummel, 1686 Velden, 1689 Zacco, 1696 Maffei, 1705 Disbanded

1682 Preysing, 1685 Seyboltdorff, 1693 Rivera, 1695 Tattenbach, 1704 Disbanded

1682 Degenfeld, 1683 La Rosa, 1685 Gallenfels, 1689 Schwanenfeldt, 1694 Kurprinz

1682 Berlo, 1683 Mercy, 1684 Leibregiment

1694 Haxthausen, 1695 Rivera, 1695 Haxthausen, 1703 Mercy, 1704 Disbanded

1698 Spilberg, 1699 Disbanded

1702 d'Octfort, 1704 Disbanded

1702 Bettendorf, 1704 Disbanded

So, there are some links there but not many !

That was a very nice question for an lineage nut like me (there are other words I could use !)

I am currently working on a lineage spreadsheet for the Dutch army and then hope to move on to the many (many) German states inc Bavaria. I'll post when its done. Might be a while...

In the meantime, very glad to help with any other lineage queries.

Cheers,

Basically you have 7 Regiments mustered and raised in 1682, on June 29th:
These are:
Berlo, Puech, Degenfeld, Montfort, Perouse, Steinau, Preysing.

The lineage of these regiments is a bit confusing. I got a table containing an overview out of the appendix of the Staudinger reference book and though it's a table it is confusing (as I did not read all the text on the organisational history of the regiments before (some hundred pages)).

But to get an overview I did an transcription of the tabel. In order to read it properly copy it in excel and use the data to column function (new cell starting at semicolon):

Code: Select all
