So I started work on my warfare swedes again.

My plan has always been Sweden VS Russia

But I'm starting to think anout doing Sweden vs Denmark/Saxony

Ebor has come out with some danes(tho I hope they will get more) Barry has hinted about danes to!

Saxons are easy enough with ebor and front rank both making figures that can be used for them.

A 3rd option to stop my self from getting bored is to do a unhistoric triple alliance. With smaller forces of Danish, Russian and Saxon.

My first goal for the swedes have always been 2 infantry brigades and two cavalry brigades.

If I mirror the this with the enemy but then add a 3rd force it will give the 50% advantage that BLB recomends when having enemies of swedes.

The saxons didn't introduce the tricorn until about 1706 or so gunter would be able to give you the correct information. So for early great Northern war games you may well be better of using warfare miniature figures.

Yes I had heard that, but my forces are all going to be 1709-1712 period.

With Poltova, Helsingborg and Gadebusch as templates

Been thinking of doing the 1708-1709 period myself.

Talking to Gunter, the Saxon army was beaten so many times and had to re equip that the mixture of dress styles was perhaps wider than any other army of the period!

The Russians we have released would be equally good as Saxons and combined with the Cuirassier options we already have available the Saxon army is very possible from the Warfare range.

I agree with Barry. I have two battalions of Russians painted as Saxons. By switching out the command stand, I can also use them as red-coated Russians.

While I don't believe there were any field actions where Russian, Saxon and Danish troops fought together, the three armies worked in concert in 1712 and 1713 in Northern Germany, so a "what if" battle including troops from all three would not be too fanciful.

Yes i have no problems finding figs for saxons. But lack of good danes is a problem.

I won't do saxons unless i do danes.
So with out good danes i would rather just do Russian

After reading part of the GNW compendium, I'm now quite sure I want to do Russo-Saxon army and I do think I'll use warfare NYW figures as saxons!.

This means my entire GNW project can be done with warfare(when Barry comes out with russian cav ect)

Remember Truls, the Saxon cuirassiers are already covered in the codes
WLO39 - 56. Many of these miniatures are perfect for the Saxons, just ask Gunter!
