Pipers in Irish Brigade.....how can I get it right?

Post by Me paints good » Mon Apr 24, 2017 5:51 pm

Was reading around....thought it was nonsense at first, but indeed they had them, and they even had a green set of Irish war pipes used at Fontenoy in a museum in France, somewhere.....There's zero info on what such a piper would have worn and obviously, I'll have to do a conversion, but to what? Traditional saffron stuff? Regimental uniforms? not really sure :|

Interesting, anyone have any idea if they were often used in Jacobite regiments in Ireland?

"King James fought King William of Orange in the Siege of Derry in 1689 in northern Ireland. Both kings had Irish pipers playing the troops into battle, which truly must have been awesome to see and hear. But the warpipes failed to rouse King James' troops to victory."
