COLOGNE DRAGOONS-RAMILLIES ERA

Post by curassier » Thu Jun 06, 2019 12:56 pm

Two regiments were involved in the battle - the Chassonville Dragoons and the Leibregiment Dragoons.
I am using Front Rank figures to portray these but should the officers have waist or shoulder sashes ?
many thanks

I think in the 18th century, the early 17th century practice of non-officers wearing sashes was dying out, in part because of the growth of uniforms as a distinguishing feature on the battlefield. In the 18th century, sashes were something more associated with officers rather than the rank and file. So while I know little of these units other than that the Chassonville regiment wore a blue coat, I would guess that the rank and file would not have worne sashes, but I have no idea whether Cologne officers wore sashes.
