Danish Artillery uniforms

One last GNW question - was the Danish Artillery of the GNW honestly dressed in Violet coats with green facings, as suggested on the Northern Wars site? This seems a very expensive colour to be in mass use in this way, a cheap purple dye not being commercially produced until the Industrial Revolution.
Have I misread the article?

Mmm... "touché" Rob, it wasn't until 1856 that purple dye was synthesised, and could be cheaply produced. Maybe Dan Schorr can shed some light on this matter.

Indeed I am impressed by both of your extensive knowledge of fabric production techniques. Is there no end to the sagacity of wargamers across the world???
