As Napoleon commanded the French forces at Montmirail I thought it only proper that he made an appearance on the table. However I did not want his presence to over influence what was essentially a learning the rules game. He started the game off table then after lunch the French diced for his arrival, unfortunately he had been wounded after a clash with some Russian Cossacks on his way to the battlefield and therefore could only add 4 MP's per turn . The French then had to decide which Division would be responsible for his safe keeping, a Napoleon figure was then allocated to each of the Divisions to confuse the allies, one of Adrians objectives was to try and capture Napoleon if the opportunity presented itself, but I didn't want that to be to easy
Not sure if it added anything to the game in the end as I was on the other table and I forgot to ask afterwards but I know he survived

With reference to Napoleon being on the table and my objective to capture him if the occasion arose, somewhere in one of 'the briefing reports' Boney was referred to as 'the Ogre'......!

Playing my role as a 'true' Prussian, with 'rigid brass neck an' all', I felt it my duty to only look for 'an Ogre' figurine!

I think someone had some Flintloque stuff on the table some there WAS probably an ogre in there somewhere

Adrian, Sorry if I had known you were that easily confused I wouldn't have bothered with the 3 Napoleon figures
To give you a bit of thinking time between now and Nov's game I'll give you a brief outline of one of your objectives. After you have stormed the defences of Paris you are to scour the streets looking for an old toymakers workshop where you will find a wooden figure with a big nose who thinks he is a real boy. You are to take him to Versaille and install him as the new puppet King

Can I ask if it's the same toyshop as the one with Benny Hill as the toymaker? Is it the one where that freaky and scarry gadger turns up as a lollipop salesman atop a secretly disguised 'caged wagon'?....

You know..... its got a flying car in it and has the ultimate 'cockney Yank' singing and dancing in it......

No no that would be totally out of context and I'm not sure how PC a child catcher is these days I'm going for historical accuracy here and I'm convinced I read somewhere that following Napoleons abdication the new French King was a puppet of the Allies.

It's great to see the French plan working! Our pretend, abysmal and incompetent handling of the troops at the last game, has fooled the allied commanders of thinking that the taking of Paris will be a walk in the park!

Did anyone take any pics of the weekends gaming?
I know Barry went round taking some shots of individual units but did anyone take any overall shots of the games.
I've not had a game since then so I'm missing my lead fix, apart from painting more Russians that is.

If it's the Eureka Cossacks I've already ordered them from Fighting 15's and hopefully will pick them up at Claymore.
Their Suvarov range also looks superb as does the rest of their Revolutionary range but I can do without the distraction, at the moment.
