Vietnam. Peter N and Colin are running the Vietnam game in November in Kirriemuir, probably using the Disposable Heroes supplement The Long Road South. This is a new period for the LoGW but it will be done with the same aplomb as any other period. Look out for riverboats, a cave and Purple Haze from DJ Ade.

Gents, as discussed at the weekend if anyone wants to paint figures for the weekend then we could do with some NVA. You can get some here.
http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/ca ... Path=26_78
http://bakercompany.co.uk/index.php?mai ... cPath=6_12
If anyone knows of other companies that produce NVA figures then please post a link to the site here.

Can everyone who has figures, vehicles, buildings or terrain suitable for Nam please email the details to me so that I can collate exactly what we have.
Cheers
Dave

The attached site is a beginners guide to gaming Vietnam in 28mm and gives some good comparative information on manufacturers, vehicles etc.

In addition to the manufacturers Dave has mentioned there is also
The Assault Group (TAG) - some nice figures
Parkfield Miniatures - new range, haven't seen them in the flesh
Chiltern - big and chunky, not really in scale with anything else
Force of Arms - nice range but not my personal favourite
Recon 28 - are a new range of 28mm Vietnam figures by Ebob. I don't know if they are yet available but they look good. http://www.recon28.com/

Old Glory have some nice boats

Well done Peter that's a great sight.
The Chiltern figures are just HUGE when you look at the comparison pics.
I like the Force of Arms figures they have some lovely poses on their figures.

Thanks Colin but can you and anyone else that is supplying troops email me directly so that what's available is a surprise to the gents taking part.
Can you also give me a breakdown of what's in your 50 US troops and 37 VC, ie; HMG's, LMG's, RPG's, recoilless rifels and mortars.
Cheers
Dave

Are you not getting confused with the cowboy game?
It was suggested that game took place in Stonnie to save Peter dragging all his fragile buildings down to Kirrie. With the current ideas we have for Nam we will need the space at Kirrie but double check with the others.

Dave

Agreed , the NAM game is at Kirriemuir.

I've been busy painting and basing my remaining NAM unpainted and will shortly start work on some of the plastic helicopter kits I have had sitting around for ages.

We are going to need lots of jungle, spider -, trench systems, bunkers, paddy fields and other terrain stuff for this game. Great opportunities for people to start building if you don't have any figures but want to contribute something to the game. The last two WI have had articles on building Vietnamese huts and terrain items if you want to give it a go.

Peter/Colin, I have nothing specifically Vietnam but did make rather a lot of the "aquarium on a CD" type jungle pieces. Would they be useful or are you aiming for scale 150 feet trees? Could some palm trees be incorporated along jungle edges and if so I'll get on with basing up a selection of these too.

I must have skipped over the hut building articles in the WI but will get them out and have a go at something.

Somewhere in a storeroom, where the light of day never falls, there are two or three 1/48th helicopters. You probably have enough of them but, if my divining rod can help me locate them, they will be subject to a quick repaint job or, at the very least, some weathering.

Likewise any helicopters, particularly crashed Hueys.

We will also need paddy fields if anyone has them.

G'Day Peter / Colin,

Just to remind you, I'm goin' "Digger" for this one. I'll be bringing along a platoon-sized force of Australians - about 40 assorted figures - three infantry squads, a support squad and a small headquarters. Actually, they're painted up as Gurkhas - I suppose we better treat them as Maoris, and make it a Kiwi unit...

I'm also on the lookout for a Centurion, as all my current vehicles are lighter stuff, designed for Bormeo or Malaya. If anyone comes across one, then please let me know!

I also have jungle - both primary (a couple of dozen very tall "jungle canopy" trees), and secondary (thick lower level jungle). Oh, and a couple of hooches, sampans and other such nick-nacks.

Cheers cobber,

Angus

Angus , that will all be very useful. Good to have some ANZAC troops available and we will need all the jungle we can egt our hands on.

Noticed the following Centurion on Ebay which may be of interest.

Sorry just noticed that that Centurion is only 1/72nd.

You could always pick up an old Dinky diecast model and repaint it. Plenty of them on Ebay
