Post by big-gazza » Wed Oct 14, 2009 2:45 pm

Hi,
well another wargamer sold his sole to the devil today.

Yes I finally ran out of excuses and started down the dark path of Napoleonics....

I blame you for it Barry. The seed was planted after seeing the game at Skelp and today I arrived home with a box of the Perry French Cav and Victrix 1807-1812 french infantry.

Thought I'd markl the day with a post here so I can see how long it takes me to get them done.

Now all I need to do is work out how to base them for RtE>

I'll second that. 200 infantry, 15 cavalry and 3 guns with caissons etc done so far. Only another 200+ to do and that is not counting the work I'm doing for others that have also been lured down the R2E path.

Not quite Barries fault but all these really nice plastics out this year made my head turn to.

I now have ECW, British & French Naps - what next my wallet groans

Its their fault that I am here and found barrys rules :D

Hi,
not like WWII wargaming. Thats a kids game.

Thanks for the kind words chaps. Enjoying doing the research into some thing new.

Looking at the 13th Cuirassiers for the Cav as they were the only unit of them in Spain. Also the brown uniform will make them stand out in the field of blue.

If you are doing Spain why not go for Joseph Boneparte's Spanish Cuirassiers "Espanoles Coraceros" :) . Red with green facings, same uniforms as the French. They would really break the colour mould.

Yes, also took the plunge after being suitably impressed when helping play-test the rules at SESWC ... to the tune of I'm now working on painting up a Spanish division

Cheers,

John.

It looks as if I'm going to have to dust off the first metal miniature armies I ever collected. Minifigs' 25mm (well nearly) French and British painted in Humbrol enamels from 1973 to 1978. Based six to a 60mm x 40mm stand for infantry and three to a 75mm x 40mm stand for cavalry. I started off using Bruce Quarrie's rules and they have since served under Wargames Research Group, General de Brigade and Shako.

God, not another one. That 33:1 scale was a real pain but I think the best at the time.
