Next Monday (15th) BBC NI will be showing an hour long program on the siege of Derry. It might be good, it might be rubbish, but how often does our period make it on to TV?
For those not in Northern Ireland, but in the UK you can probably watch it after broadcast on the iPlayer, or if you have digital TV with all the regional channels you can probably get BBC NI live.

Yup, it's on the iPlayer as 'Coming soon'. Go to IPlayer and search on BBC Northern Ireland.

How was it? I asked my wife to record it so I can see it when I get home Sunday!

Not a bad show at all.
Only problem was the usual BBC talking head to whom the terms 'England' and 'Britain' are synonymous, e.g. ..."William and Mary were crowned King and Queen of England..." So much for 1603.

Same thing runs when someone is referring to the Holy Roman Empire saying Germany
Also the Germans were seemingly the only nation who fought against the Allies in the First World War instead of Germany, Austria-Hungaria and Italy...
„Macht Euch Euren Dregg alleene“
"Sort your filth out by yourself!" The King of Saxony Friedrich August III., at his abdication 1918, referred to the quarrels in the parliament and the squabbling within the provisional government.

Dr Eamonn O Ciardha was the most interesting talking head I thought. Anybody read "Ireland And The Jacobite Cause, 1685-1766: A Fatal Attachment"?

Don't you mean Germany, Austria-Hungaria and TURKEY?
Cheers

I thought that this was well done and informative. I didn't really know much about the subject matter. The presenter seemed to be making a good attempt at being unbiased and the experts were all pretty good.
The long haired guy was a bit craggy island!
For any of you folks with Sky you can buy a wee box for about £20 that turns your tv into a smart TV and allows you access to BBC iplayer, 4 catchup etc.
