18th Infantry Division, 3rd Army of the West

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

18th Infantry Division, 3rd Army of the West

Post by Friedrich August I. » Sun Nov 09, 2014 3:44 pm

Dear Friends,

As you can see from he subject I have come to terms with the Devil himself...
No, I just decided to raise a Russian Infantry Division, to own some Troops with which Friends can play against me and my Napoleonic Saxons.

The Miniatures to be used for the Infantry and the Cavalry are to be from Steve Barber, but what Manufacturer will be used for the Artillery is still undecided.

The 18th Division will be raised like the following OOB:

18th Division – Prince Tchervatov
Brigade – Bernardos
1st Battalion./Tambov Infantry Regiment(32)
3rd Battalion/ Tambov Infantry Regiment(32)
1st Battalion/Vladimir Infantry Regiment(32)
3rd Battalion./Vladimir Infantry Regiment(32)
Brigade – Prince Khowanski
1st Battalion./Dnieper Infantry Regiment(32)
3rd Battalion./Dnieper Infantry Regiment(32)
1st Battalion./Kostroma Infantry Regiment(32)
3rd Battalion./Kostroma Infantry Regiment(32)
Brigade
1st Battalion./28th Jager Infantry Regiment(32)
3rd Battalion./28th Jager Infantry Regiment(32)
1st Battalion./32nd Jager Infantry Regiment(32)
3rd Battalion./ 32nd Jager Infantry Regiment(32)
Brigade **Edit**
Converged Grenadiers Of The 9th Division (48)
Converged Grenadiers Of The 15th Division (48)
Converged Grenadiers Of The 18th Division (48)
Brigade
Pavlograd Hussar Regiment (32)
Division Artillery
Position Battery #18
Light Battery #34
Light Battery #35
Horse Battery #11

The Division will be painted by Phil Hart. Flags will be made by Maverick Models. Some of them have to be produced first as they are not available yet.
The completed Division will be **Edit** approx. 600 Figures strong.

Any Comments are welcome.

Cheers,
Günter

Because of recently received Informations the CG Brigade Strength is now clear to me too:

Brigade
Converged Grenadiers Of The 9th Division (48)
Converged Grenadiers Of The 15th Division (48)
Converged Grenadiers Of The 18th Division (48)

Now I have only to order them too as the remaining Foot and Horse have been ordered from Steve Barber yesterday.

What would you like to see or to have? Give me details and I will talk with Steve about it. :!:

Btw., my order costs GBP 640.- for the Division excluding the CG's.

Hi Jim,

I asked Steve about it. Here is part of his answer:
"I would like to make more and have been working on bits for the ACW range, but nothing we can release yet. I have made pistols and shotguns for the new cavalry. I have also made limber riders for the limbers I have made. I just need to dress the limber horses and sculpt some riders for them. So much to do!"

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Günter

Dear Friends,

The Year starts with delivering my Russians to Phil Hart http://hartofwar001.blogspot.co.at/ , a Miniature Painter, who will paint and base them for me. As stated before the Miniatures are made by Steve Barber, Flags will be from Maverick Models.

Basically I will copy the composition for those Battalions from Bryce' 7th Division as they look very good and I would love to have them the same way.

Thanks for watching,

Günter

Today Phil received a "GO" to start with the Russians he has. He has a free hand with which of those Regiments he begins. My Plan goes for 2 Battalions each month so eventually there are 12 of them available in June '15 and the full Division in October '15.

The above depends on my Real Life as my current employer is in insolvency proceedings

The next weeks will tell how all will run in the near future.

This two and a half month break for the forementioned GO to paint my Russians have finally passed and so I told Phil Yesterday to restart the project on a Two Battalion Basis.
As Maverick Models seems to have some unknown troubles with orders I placed today an order with Rick O'Brien aka The Flag Dude for Russian Infantry Flags of 16 Battalions of the 15th and 18th Division.

Let's see who answers first.
