It's when you see a well done, large scale re enactment that you realise just how difficult it is to move large bodies of troops, never mind try and co ordinate them. even the slightest ditch, stand of trees, dip in the ground or hedge completely throws folks off . It must have
been a nightmare pushing troops forward. I know when we were at Appomattox last year there was a large body of rebs being led by Longstreet. when they started coming over the hill there didnt seem to be that many. Because they were echeloned though there tuned out to be hundreds! just because of a fold in the ground.
