Title : Irish Footguards on hexes
I have had this idea for a while but only managed to get round to doing it now. The unit was originally intended as a display unit to show what can be done with WARFARE MIniatures but I can now see it has a place on the table top. The unit has approximately the same frontage as a normal BLB infantry unit. I have used the hexes to bend it to imply the unit is under pressure and in defence either receiving a charge or taking heavy fire. In my mind they were at Oldbridge engaging the Dutch Guards. I have used a wide variety of codes in the construction WLOA1, 2,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13. There are 27 figures in three hexes plus a half hex for the pikes which gives their rear edge a striaght line. I have used hexes many times before for Ancients, Napoleonics and the like but this one has come off just as I saw it in my head. 3 flags may seems a little excessive but they were a late thought and had everything to do with symmetry. The unit was rushed finished for Antwerp next weekend. It will not be the last time i use hexes for the period.
