Battle of Waterloo weekender - By Barry Hilton

We enjoyed a fantastic weekend of wargaming at the accommodating and friendly Lundin Links Hotel near Leven over 17th & 18th April.

7 players were guided through the attack of General D'Erlon's I Corps on  a 12 x 12 playing surface using about 2,500 figures and 70 gun models.

With Chris 'WAB' Stone nominated by his team mates as the Emperor and Peter 'The Painter' McCarroll as a particularly charming and mannerly Duke of Wellington, the two armies locked horns simulating 5 hours of battle fought over 18 game turns.

We had pretty much everything in the game including storming of built up areas, cavalry melees, bayonet charges, prolonged fire fights, squares, grand batteries and flank marches by the Prussians! Top that off with Napoleon's health problems and you've got the lot!

Some nice champagne moments, great gaming and good company made it a cracking experience.

We are now discussing the next event and will trail details on the site as soon as we have it firmed up.
