I like my pikes to look like pikes and not just long spears, these are 100mm.

A lot of Warfare troops could easily be used for Monmouth rebels, there is very little difference between them and Irish troops.

I've adapted some of the Warfare troops by trimming off some of the buttons and pockets and painted them in civilian colours to make them less military. I also left off a number of swords and either added knapsacks to the sword belts or trimmed them off altogether and added a few pitchforks and scythes. Having said that it would be nice to see some troops in shirt sleeves and waistcoats.

Barry and I have been discussing doing the Monmouth rebellion with big units because so few troops were involved. I'm currently painting up Kirke's regiment which are all based singly for using with Clarence's skirmish rules against my Moors but fit into multi-bases for fighting Monmouths troops. The unit will probably be about 40 figures strong by the time I've finished it and I'm really happy with how it's looking so far.
Cheers

I like the idea of irregularly dressed pike and musket - militia or recruits anyone?

Thanks for the kind words.

Interesting question too.

The Government/Royal Army is pretty much covered:

Oxfords and the Life Guards with the Cuirassiers and various cavalry types.

The Guards, Dumbarton's, Kirke's & Trelawney's with the apostle equipped infantry.

Dismounted dragoons for the Royal Dragoons and appropriate grenadier models.

Artillery covered too. On the Rebel side the cavalry are covered by using the irregularly dressed,Enthusiastic Cavalry codes for which command models are just about to be released. Many of the Rebel infantry COULD be represented with some of the existing types but I agree there are a couple of additions which would make the range totally complete and we have discussed them:

Horse Grenadiers
Mounted Dragoons (They are in the bag and will be released before Summer 2013).
Irregularly dressed infantry representing the Rebels, both pikemenand musketeers.

Stay with us... I think you'll see that those gaps will get filled.

cheers

Hi

Any plans to do Monmouth's rebels ?

You already have suitable government troops- these models are
fantastic, some of the best I've seen in a long time.
