Thanks for your reply Barry. Just wanted to check I was on the right track. Started painting a French Dragoon regt of Front Rank figures over the weekend and it makes a nice change from painting Napoleonic units at 1:20, is pleasing how much more progress you can make with the smaller units and the ...

There was a group of painted samples on their stand at Triples yesterday. Looked very nice, as you would expect from Front Rank.

I'm quite happy that their doing the first ones with flintlocks, will be tempted to get some to use as militia or hastily raised foot in the WSS.

Many thanks for your replies gentleman. Sounds like theres no problem with my thinking then.

Following my post I found an OOB for Blenhiem that had the strengths for the individual units. For some of the French cavalry regiments, a 6 figure BLB squadron for the whole regiment would be generous, lol.

French Cavalry in the WSS for BLB

Hi there, I've got a question about representing French cavalry regts in the WSS for the BLB rules. Having looked at a few OOB's, my understanding is that most French 'line' cavalry regts had either 2 or 3 squadrons. C S Grants book has the organisation as 12 companies of 35 men in three squadrons, ...

Progress on Wargames Factory WSS plastic infantry

The Wargeames Factory forum has got some new pics of a work in progress infantryman from the WSS. Looks very promising and they are now thinking about doing parts for command figures too. Has got me excited about this period again, off to Triples tomorrow to get some Front Rank generals and th...

Thanks Barry. If I was starting from scratch I think I would base my French on 4 stands of either 6 or 8 figures each and have some kind of permanently deployed skirmish screen. But as you say, rebasing is an issue and not something I particularly enjoy. Your right about the mantra of change. My exp...

Capter on scales

Barry, thanks for posting the chapter on scales extract, an interesting and thought provoking piece. The problem of frontage versus depth is I think more of an issue with the French than any of the other armies. As you say this is caused by the convention of having a base for each company (usually 6...

Very interesting teaser. Am really looking forward to the finished product. The section on merging weak units is sensible, as Martin said very relevant for the 1813 campaign onwards. I think the 46th Ligne would look most impressive with 44 or 45 figures in one unit! One question about Skirmishers, ...

£1.99 Panzer

Dear Barry, just had a look at the excellent £1.99 panzer in the gallery section! Do you know what make the model was and which department store stocks them? Many thanks, Simon

Have just returned from an interesting visit to Berlin, Barry is quite right that lots of buildings still show the damage caused during WW2, although some one told me that most of what look like bullet - were actually caused by bomb splinters. There is an intersting group who explore Berlins undergr...
