I agree totaly Barry! Several years ago MW was as popular as WI with my friends. Now non of my wargaming friends buys MW. I never liked the pictures, but at least some of the articles used to be interesting (for example the range of articles/scenario's about the SYW some years ago). Concerning the q...

Hi, I also was at Salute yesterday, where I bought the new rulesset from Mark Sims. These are rules for ancient and medieval wargames. Full color and 64 pages, but the most interesting part here is that they only cost £5.00! Which only proves that it doesn't have to be expensive to publish a new set...

If you like Ancient Empires, there is a yahoo group reworking all the rules: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/ancientempires2nd/ The new edition rules are there availlable for free. I'll give them a try in the near future. My favorite rules set for the moment is Armati ll. You would need only aro...

Interesting link

Hello, Check this link http://www.wtj.com/nosworthy/index.htm It contains very interesting information about weapons, tactics, etc for the period from 1690 up to 1860. Site owned by the famous author of "The anatomy of victory", Brent Nosworthy. (a real "must have" book for SYW fans) Cheers, Wim VdB

I'd like to see that Jim. I visited Oudenaarde last year for a day and went round the battlefield which is vast - much larger than Waterloo. Much less to see though! Hardly anybody knew there had been a battle there!!!! B That's common practice in Belgium. Most people only know about the Battle of ...

http://www.geocities.com/ao1617/TercioU ... troduction

Mostly about Spanish Tercios, but chapter 7 is a good introduction for most other European armies in the 16th and 17th century.

I hope it is of any use to you La Voltige.

BTW, I'm also building armies with Venexia Miniatures.

Barry, I believe your proposed base size is a little small for 15mm. I base 3 cav on a 40mm (front) X 30mm base. I think it is very dificult to make the base smaller. For 6 inf I guess the minimum size is around 30mm(front) X 30mm. Mine are DBx based, but I use 2 bases (deep) as 1 ULB base. Wim (sti...

I think Lindsay is correct. Everything you ever want to know is somewhere on the www. And if you don't find it, just ask at one of the better known forums/yahoo groups. On the other hand, I always liked WI, being a subscriber for many years. But if my current subscription ends in a month or two, I d...

That would be great Barry! Thanks alot for the great efforts you put into these rules, and for making them availlable to us all. I'm planning to use 15mm Venexia miniatures. I love 28mm more, but I want to have enough figures to start playing battles as soon as possible. This will be my first 15mm a...
