Re: WSS Fixed Bayonets?

Thanks for the replies chaps. I am finding most figure manufacturers accord with your comments. I just noticed many uniform illustrations seem to portray soldiers of the period with fixed bayonets.

Re: WSS Fixed Bayonets?

Thanks Mark for such a detailed reply. I am just a bit disappointed as I like the look of fixed bayonets on figures.

WSS Fixed Bayonets?

So for battles such as Blenheim and Ramilles, with the socket bayonet presumably being widely available, would infantry have gone into battle with bayonets fixed? Some figure ranges would suggest otherwise.

Re: Bavarian Infantry Organisation circa 1700 onwards

Staudinger states that in 1704 Bavarian army counted "11 grenadier, 120 fusilier and 2 frei coys in 9 regiments or 26 battalions" Thanks for the reply. Not sure how many companies to a battalion but your information suggests five. If the Grenadier regiment had 2 battalions then that would account f...

Yes I got that. Not the "material on" WSS. Thought he meant P&SS with the reference to Robert Hall?

Thanks for the Baccus link.

Re: Bavarian Infantry Organisation circa 1700 onwards

Off the top of my head: There were no grenadier companies in infantry regiments save the Kurprinz IR, but these were detached and joined .... (hmmm, I forgot...) There was guards grenadier battalion and also foreign grenadiers battalion (known by their famous commander, de la Colonie) but the later...

Re: Bavarian Infantry Organisation circa 1700 onwards

Thanks John. Caliver don't appear to have the Wilson book but I think I have managed to procure it from someone else. I have the Hoffman and Editions Brokaw books. Not sure what you mean by WSS? I believe there are Robert Hall plates available on the Pike and Shot Society website but I can't seem to...

Bavarian Infantry Organisation circa 1700 onwards

Can anyone tell me if the Bavarian infantry battalions had grenadier companies or were they detached into combined grenadier battalions by this time?

Re: WSS British Artillery Uniforms

Helpful? Superb! Thanks very much Ray :D

I take it these uniforms also apply to the smaller battalion guns as well?

WSS British Artillery Uniforms

Hi, Just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction from finding out the uniforms of British artillery during the War of Spanish Succession? Can't seem to find anything from internet search apart from a reference to them being blue? I think I recall "Churchill" posting pictures of his ...

Re: Blenheim OOB

Hi Ray, Yes it does thanks. One question. I have had a quick run through the posts on this thread. There was a reference by you to having some dismounted dragoons painted. Did you post any pictures of these if so as I couldn't seem to find any? Did the British dragoons commonly dismount during battl...

Thanks Rob. What's annoying is I used to have that book many years ago and sold it. Just checked on Amazon and it is £75!
