Schomberg's Horse at the Boyne

Thank you all for your help and Iain Stanford for his e-mail. The Frederick, Duke of Schomberg's Huguenot regiment of 9 troops (3 squadrons) was dressed in light grey coats with red cuffs and buff breeches with yellow buttons & white hat lace. Taken over by Henry de Ruvigny, Viscount Galway after Fr...

Charging and making the enemy run away like girls

Hi Jim and Dave, I did say on sunday that if the unit charging could not reach their target the charged unit shouldn't need to test even if the sequence of play says the charged unit should test morale before the chargers move. So the way I see it and Barry puts it charging is always a gamble (You) ...

REPUBLIC TO EMPIRE RULES

Hello Barry, I voted No to buckets of dice....please, please, please don't go down that WAB road.I for one don't want to throw a D6 for every single infantryman firing. Your BLB rules are fantastic, now that we've ironed out some quieries we managed nine moves in four hours on sunday and we're getti...

Use of St. Patrick's Saltire

Hi all, This is of interest to me as in the future I plan to paint a Marlburian Battalion as Hamilton's 18th Foot Regiment (later to become "The Royal Irish").Robert Hall's colour plate has the Colonel's Colour, but not the Regimental Colour. As the Scottish Regiment's were able to carry the cross of...

Schomberg's Horse at the Boyne

Hi all, Another uniform question.......I'm still intending on building a British Marlburian Army, but because the other club members are more interested in doing the war in Ireland so I've been forced to buy and paint a few Williamite regiments. In the Anglo-Irish forces under the regiments of Horse...

One balanced army

Hi Dave, You don't say what Danish your thinking of building 1690's or later e.g. Marlburian allies. I would say Brigades of 4 infantry battalions (each of 18 figures) this gives you 72 figures in a infantry brigade. Two brigades gives you 144 infantry figures. In this period there should be a cavalr...

New 15mm Napoleonic Releases

Hi Colbert,

Wow these are really nicely painted and based, I think the staggered formation add's to the look of a charging regiment of cavalry.
How did you find the figures and did they need much work on them before you started painting them.

Well done and continue the good work.......Ray.

Hi Jim, This is how I see it and I'm sure Barry will correct me if I'm wrong  line to column or vice versa takes a full move with a Form marker. Line turning 90 degrees or 180 degrees takes half turn with a Move marker.Because the unit started in line it only has half it's line movement left t...

CHANGE OF FACING

Thank you Barry for explaining this clearly...phew so no turning of facing from line to front to line to flank to shoot at people on your flank who are rallying.

Cheers......Ray.
