Project Auldearn Battle Report

Hi Gents,

been ages since I posted anything but work has been ticking along nonetheless.

Lots of good stuff on the blog with our first battle using the troops.

Hopefully this will help drive us along and get the whole thing finished.

all the best

Roy

Gents, been out of it with work for a while so came on this rather late. I thought it was an interesting development and agree with many of the points here. I'm old enough to remember the change that happened to GW first in their stores then in White Dwarf. I was equally cynical at the time. However...

Thanks guys, really enjoying the painting just now - though work is pushing the schedule further and further out. Gaming scene in Houston is pretty diabolical for a city with the population of Scotland. I know a lot of folk with armies and an interest but there is no club scene. Our local shop which...

Agree - if everything is moved to the rear - you probably could move through. However, if the gun teams and casions are about they will take up space - if they are in the rear they will still affect the movement of the rear echelon reserves. I was reading Hell Riders the other month, great book by t...

Barry,

I really like the idea of the battery area - one of the big problems for the scots greys would have been getting completly mixed up inamongst all the clutter of the grand battery - yet in most rule sets batteries don't even provide a speed bump.

Keep it coming!!!

Thanks for this - I'll probably make the horse standards 1/4 size of the infantry ones - probably a bit bigger than they were in reality - but will give me a bit more space to paint on - its been hard enough doing designs on the infantry ones!!

relative standard sizes

gents,

do you have any ideas/views on the relative size of the typical cavalry standard in comparrison to an infantry flag.

Looking to start work on some designs for my covenanter cav but don't want to go to small or too big

cheers

Thanks Barry!

Sounds all very straight forward but I'm sure it would take a while to master.

Hopefully, one of these days I'll be in the UK when you have all this on show!

All the best

The Banks of the Boyne

Barry,

I really like the recent images you posted of your Boyne terrain. Is there any chance you could give us a quick run down of your construction techniques?

Guys, don't bracket all GW types with the max the points win at all costs type of gamer. Most of the WAB guys I know and like play for the fun of the rules and try (within the limits of an ancient ruleset) to play as historical as possible. Sure many folk go for the cheesey armies at tournaments - b...

Chaps, just back from the old country and managed to sneak in a visit to flooden if someone can tell me how to get the photos on here I'll upload them  What struck me is actually how steep the terrain is - it never comes across in the photos. where the slope is gentle - on the scottish left - ...

Barry, its been ages since I last played napoleonics but I've been waiting for a good set to bring me back in. I don't mind the lots of D6 solution but then again that reflects that I play WAB most of the time. What often put me off many napoleonic rule sets was the constant casultie record keeping ...
