Bluebear - no, and no. :) I usually approach a new period by getting enough figs to do some "basic" battles. So I am thinking maybe 5 inf units and 2 or 3 cav, and a couple of batteries per side to start, just to work with the rules. Then I would expand from there for bigger, actual battles. 5x18man...
