Re: Retreat from Moscow

Nice sentiments guys, thanks. Barry, I'm sure i don't know the full story. As i said, it's the first i knew of it on Saturday at Derby when i physically saw the stuff in front of me. A nice surprise, followed by a nasty shock! And i only got a little bit of the story from Dave. I do know however tha...

Retreat from Moscow

Hello Barry, Not been here for a while! I thought i'd drop you a line regarding a surprise i got at the Derby show this weekend. I haven't been to a wargames show for a year. Drastic i know. I had a chat with Dave Thomas and he showed me some absolutely fabulous figures and terrain that brought the ...

Re: Everyone OK?

A Crimean vignette? Painted in 1997? I'm even more intrigued. I'd love to see this Barry. Never knew Paul was painting Crimean in 97'. I'm not surprised you ran off leaving someone else holding the line. I seem to remember a Blenheim refight where i was given lot's of troops with a general not able ...

Re: Everyone OK?

One of Paul's command vignettes? I'm intrigued.

A Napoleonic one? Tell me more.

I've been using Paul's French Napoleonic's at the SODS recently. They are great painted figures. And nice they see the light of day.

Re: Everyone OK?

Yes Barry, i am alive! Even in darkest Brum, if you can call it that! You'd know all about that with your Acocks Green visits.............The only thing that keeps you going are the great Balti's! I've been kept busy with all the doings at my lovely public sector s**t recycling factory. But when not...

Re: Everyone OK?

Well three dead half a mile down the road from here in Brum. Apparently a young couple took their baby daughter out in a push chair to see 'a bit of history'. Getting back at the Police?! With Police forces having their hands -, their politically correct masters worried what someone might think if t...

Darrell, I've had a quick look so far. A lot of my Mutiny era books are out of reach at the moment. Haven't found any info stating that British units did not carry colours, and due to the nature of the war, i would have thought that not carrying them would be counter productive. Actual British units...

Hello Darrell,

Not sure what you're after?

Proof of whether colours were carried, or what the colours were?

Sorry for being dense!

Bicorne do some great items in their Napoleonic range (including sledges for Russians!). They've also got some good bits in their ECW range.

They also have Gilders old Connoisseur range with lots of good but large pieces.

Both for 25mm/28mm.

Hello, When i've painted Indians (Sikhs, Pathans, Mutineers) i've used a sand colour base coat, then a wash of very watered down oil paint burnt umber and raw sienna. Then you could add a highlight if you wish. Some of the new ink washes would gice a similar effect. The Games Workshop inks being ver...

Hello Chaps, Just going to throw my oar in and have a paddle! Ray, you could base your units sizes to how they were at the start of the campaigns fighting, bofore Quatre Bras. Cookes Division was heavily engaged at Quatre Bras. Coming into action at around 6pm and taking many casualties when clearin...

From far memory of doing Brunswickers many years ago, i remember there being the infantry, jager and hussars in the Peninsular. They were the remnants of the Black Band that marched through Germany to the coast in 1809, to be rescued by RN ships. The infantry formed the nucleous of the 1815 Brunswic...

Here is a great site to have a look at. Their Teddy Bear fur looks great. Alan, their terrain man works magic with a sandy cloth and scatter draped over hills. Look's perfect for the Indian Mutiny games they play. Earlswood are also steaming ahead nicely with their Marlburian project. http://www.ear...

Sounds like a good idea Barry. I would certainly be interested coming along. However, i'd like to do more than just shovel my destroyed troops back into their boxes like i did at the Blenheim fight a few years ago! I haven't had chance to read the rules as yet. I have looked at the nice pictures tho...
