Hmm, seems the filters don't approve of the word "whole" without the w!

Re: I think he'll need a closed casket.

Yikes! Yet, I am amused by the on again, off again raging debate on the EXACT cause of his demise. It really matters not whether it was a canister ball or musket ball and which side delivered it, the end result was a large - in the head and a dead king.

Re: Other Scanian War uniforms?

Ach meinen!! OMM DOES carry some of the Zinnfiguren, but not under the category listing on the sidebar. Alas, not the Brandenburg one. However, I did order up a copy of "Eagles Ascending" by Megehee which looks promising. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Other Scanian War uniforms?

Went to the site to order the book only to discover it will cost me over 60 euros including mailing to the States! Ouch! I don't need it THAT badly. Thanks for the post.

Re: Other Scanian War uniforms?

rsk112, Well, I too, am interested in this conflict as well as it's later iteration, the Great Northern War. Here is my library of references for the Scanian War 1675-1679(I wish I spoke Danish or Swedish so I could get primary info!) Scanian War 1675-1679 Colours and uniforms, Hoglund, Acedia Press...

Kneeling?

Barry and Clib, I know you have a lot on your plates but I would sure like to see a pack of kneeling figs for my firing line.

Re: Swedish Guards (1670s-80s) in Green coats and Blue Cuffs

I'll try and tackle this. I am working from Hoglands "Scanian War 1675-79". There are four units named as "Guard", as follows: Drabanterna- Began as 25 inner palace guards, increased to 200 and united with the Livgardet, below. Livgardet till Fot- Also a company of palace guards, in 1672 it was incr...

Re: Warfare miniatures for Scanian war?

I, too, have become interested in this theatre and period. I suppose you could use Warfare's 'apostle' figures and most of the horse would be very similar, however, Northstar's 1672 would be a fine choice for the Scanian War. Too bad for you, they just had a terrific sale. I failed to pull the trigg...

Re: Pikemen in battle

I suspect we need to break this into the two distinct periods and theatres of operation. It is well documented that the period of 1680-1710 saw the decline and final fall of the pike due to the adoption of the fast firing flintlock and the socket bayonet in most of Europe. Tacitus, I agree that the ...

Pikemen in battle

Ok, I'm trying to clarify the common belief that pikemen were concentrated in the center of the battalion. Having read several organizational requirements from Hall, Schorr and others I have become confused. Since, for most armies, each company of the battalion has it's own pikemen, wouldn't it be p...

The flags

Oi!, I'm wasn't sure where to post this query but here seems as good as any. Clarence or Barry, can your wonderful flags be ordered without the shading graphics on plain background?

I hope this isn't against regs! BTW, the Pendraken LOA figs were sculpted by Clib couple of years back...There's nothing wrong with smaller scales.
