Re: Dragoons in fur hats - painting options

Thanks.

The Polish option looks promising. Seeing pictures of Polish dragoons in a variety of coat colours when I google. Roger's uniform description sounds interesting to paint.

Dragoons in fur hats - painting options

I recently purchased a few dragoons from Northstar's 1672 range. Expecting them to be in "floppy hats" they are in fact all wearing the "fur caps." I'm looking for some painting options. As I'm only a painter I don't really mind nation or regiment, but would like them to be "realistic" as opposed to...

1672 Dutch regiment - Painted

Took me a very long time to finish these, between other painting and, mainly, RL  Thought folks here would like to see them. The Pike. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/orctrader/1672/Pike.jpg The Musketeers. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/orctrader/1672/Musketeers.jpg The Command...

1672 Dutch Flag

I've painted the Northstar 1672 infantry as Dutch. I just need a flag, either "ready-made" or an image I can copy and paint on. I can't seem to find one that is definitely "right." I just want one that won't illicit comments like "that's not the right flag..." when I eventually post photos. A...

Re: Dutch Uniform test

Thanks for the feedback. :) Reverse coat...I like that. Yellow should add some nice colour. Photo taken in sunlight - I just wanted some opinions before I committed to painting any more of the figures. Grey will be...a light grey. Will do some experiments before committing. And I intend to put in so...

Dutch Uniform test

Test figure - appalling photo, but very quick. Light grey coat with yellow cuffs and white buttons for Dutch regiment. Yes or no? (I liked the look of the "van Essen" in the BLB book.) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/orctrader/Test/1672DutchUni.jpg My plan is for every figure to get the coat ...

Re: Wargames Factory WSS - Floppy Hats...

Thanks Bill. I'll probably still buy a box to see what I can do with them, but your excellent explanation on the uniform differences are well noted and very useful.

Wargames Factory WSS - Floppy Hats...

Can anyone who has these please tell me how many heads have "floppy hats" per box? I saw on the WF site comments about "can be used for earlier periods..." "...make upto 12 pikemen..." I'm wondering if I could mix in a few with my Northstar 1672 figures to add more variety. Any views on this? Obviou...

Thanks Dave. That's what I was thinking. And some slight variety should really lift the appearance of the figures.

Dutch 1672 - how "Uniform..."

Starting to paint some Northstar "1672" - ex-Copplestone figures. In the BLB book I checked the uniform guides and have gone for the "grey" regiment Van Essen - the ones with the yellow cuffs. My question is, how "uniform" would they have been? I like the idea of doing all of the figures with grey c...
