Re: Swiss Guards 1670s

I painted mine in Red Coats with Red Facings, but Blue waistcoats and leggings, and the Pike in Blue Coats with Red facings, with red waistcoats and blue leggings. I didn't put any buff facings on them. I can't actually remember why I chose that scheme, but it seemed the most accurate at the time! h...

Hi Guys

Excuse the commercial plug, but next weekend (31st May) we'll be having a sale weekend for the North Star 1672 range. (Ex-Copplestone Castings Glory of the Sun of course).

Re: North Star 1672 & Phoenix Miniatures

Hi Guys

The time is fast approaching where Mr Saleh will be casting his beady eyes over the 1672 range again, so we are working on a design list now.

Contributions welcome.

North Star Online Magazine

We were recently joined at North Star by Mr Kev Dallimore, well known figure painter. He's got a number of projects to work on with us, but the main one was to start a North Star online magazine. The idea was to present a magazine that was dedicated to painting and modelling all the figure ranges we...

New Swiss Pikemen for North Star 1672

Steve Saleh has just finished the Swiss Pikemen for our 1672 range. http://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=4524 We've based them on the armoured Swiss Pikes in French service. There are also Swiss Musketeers coming. They will have little bits of Swiss fashion on them, but more importantly the...

Re: Foundry have finally woken up

Going back to the title of this thread, Foundry haven't woken up, they have changed all the management. It wasn't due to market pressure, but to one of the owners retiring. I think you will see lots of changes, but I wouldn't want to speculate what they'll be.

Muskets and Tomahawks

I collected a new set of rules at Salute yesterday. It's called Muskets and Tomahawks. It's designed by Studio Tomahawk, the team that brought out the Dark Age game Saga that is doing so well at the moment. M&T is a large skirmish game, the focus being on the small wars of the late 18th Century, par...

Re: French Guard Flags

Yes, the Swiss in French service. You are right, the musketeers would only be different in their trouser fashion but the pikes would be in armour. You could 'fudge' a Swiss Guard musketeer with the figures already in the range, but not a pikeman. So if we were going to do Swiss Pike why not musketee...

Re: French Guard Flags

Hi Pete,
Great picture. I haven't photographed the Firelocks yet as EVM have them to paint as Dutch Guard and I was waiting for them first. (I know you are out there Dave).
Dragoon command are on the schedule, but I want to do Swiss Guard and generals first.

Just got the GMB French Guard flags, they fit your description perfectly Arthur.

I'll post pictures on the North Star Facebook gallery when they are done.

French Guard Flags

Does anyone make flags for the French Guard infantry 1672-79? I've seen these by Battleflag for the TYW http://www.battle-flag.com/-25mm28mm-french-tyw-catholic.html Unless I've misread the Osprey Louis XIV book, it suggests the Du Roi flags are quartered red and green, which makes the Battleflag un...
