Here you can find the three volumes of Allain Manesson Mallet's famous manual for Louis XIV officers:

Re: New Ebor GNW

Well I'm looking at suitable figures to use from Front Rank and Warfare. I like converting SOME figures but when you need units (not to say armies) it's better to sculpt/convert and then mould and cast. Now doing that with existing ranges isn't lawful.

Re: Snapphane

Yes, I've been told that Donnybrook is THE rules for "la petite guerre". Lots of possible scenarios from raids and ambuscades to storming redoubts. Looking forward to see them.

BLB1 vs BLB2

Hi,

How different is BLB2 from the first version? I'm just getting into the period and don't know much about rules...

Snapphane

"During the Scanian War, a pro-Danish guerrilla group known as the Snapphane fought against the Swedes." "A snapphane was a member of a 17th-century pro-Danish guerrilla organization that fought against the Swedes in the Second Northern and Scanian Wars, primarily in the former eastern Danish provin...

Re: WARFARE PRIVATE COMMISSIONS - WHAT INTERESTS YOU?

I would be very interested in Franco-Dutch and Skanian wars figures. Now that I've started Kingscarbine Miniatures I'm tempted to bang some dollies and sculpt a couple of test figures to see if I can match North Star 1672 range.

1680-90 Figures for 1670-80

Hi,

What figures from Warfare or Front Rank can be used with North Star for the Franco-Dutch and Scanian wars? I suppose the mounted officers will do and some pikemen but I'm not sure if the cavalry is OK.

Gå–På in Scanian War?

"The Gå–På method specialized on shock tactics and was the standard combat technique used in the Swedish army at the time. This very aggressive tactic often resulted in short–lived battles in order to counter superior numbers of enemies." When did the Swedish army start to use this tactic? Could it ...

:D Thanks! How I missed that site and the Google books is a mystery. With a little more googling I found Volume 1.

Cheers

Re: Franco-Dutch War 1672-78

Hi, I'm looking for Volume 8 of "Histoire militaire du règne de Louis-le-Grand, roi de France..." by Charles Sevin, Marquis de Quincy. Volume 8 is a treatise on the art of war, also published separately as "L’Art de la guerre" in two volumes. I've searched the usual places to no avail. Does anyone k...
