I seem to remember that there was a GNW battle in which the Saxons tried to frustrate Ga Pa by carrying chevaux de frises with them as they advanced. I don't think it worked! I've just ordered these guides and I'm really looking forward to seeing them. Its a new period for me and having access to these will kick start my resolution to invest in those Pendrakens.

You're right Clibinarium, 'piebald' is commonly used in early modern English simply to refer to something which has two colours and doesn't imply any particular pattern or mixing. Jesters ('fools') commonly wore piebald clothes hence Evelyn's thought train travelling from the hats to the cloth.
