a lot depends on what figure scale you're using, and table size but as a general rule of thumb one cavalry unit of two squadrons or more to two infantry battalions is fairly balanced.in the games we have played it has allowed the game to be finished within 3 hours .The game's stand based so actual am...
Re casualty markersI went down the round base route and cut a small peice out to make a window,I then drilled the centre and pinned a piece of white card to the base using a shaft from a plastic spear and melting it. This allows the card to turn,i then numbered the card as it appeared in the window ...
There have been quite a few displays over the last few years on the Scottish show circuit whats amazing is the amount of players who have come in after being disatisfied with whecw rules having 28mm figures and looking for a decent set of rules to play with them.

I agree with you about the rules as they stand, better to have large battles as a seperate section.Regarding thecommand radius of brigadiers we do'nt use it until the end of turn card is in the deck, although we do use any of the traits.
On a slightly related subject, how did they make pike shafts, where did they get twenty foot straight branches? They would need a hell of a workforce to turn them on a lathe given there were no power tools . The life expectancy of a pike in battle would'nt be too long so armies must have carried a lot...
Its not so much about number of units more table size.Sunday past we played a game with about sixteen a side on a8 by 6 and it was too cramped. as far as slowing the game down we d nt put the end of turn card in until everything has been tuned once,we also allow brigade movement on the brigadier car...
I had read the first book but I have never seen the second one so the film gave me the ending. As in most cases it was'nt as good as the book with big chunks missed out. There seems to be a lot of medieval dvds on the go just now, have been eying up Ironfist at tescos so once the price drops I'll prob...
Knowing how large theLOGW games tend to be it will be interesting to see how you cope, weve played multi player games with about twenty units a side and they were slightly unwieldywith one pack of cards.Once we work out a system of interface we will probably go for a seperate deck for each pair of p...
Do'nt know about yobs but wee neds is a distinctly Scottish term of 'endearment' the english press seem to be using chavs and filth (although I always thought that was for the met)
Would that include workshop and foundry if so will there be a lot of cheap figures on Ebay soon?
As for waterstones I must be a more educated looter thats the sort of shop I would be going for
the government is breathing a sigh of relief that it has become a free shopping trip for the yobs because if it had gone onto an arab sping type of protest they would have been stymied , everybody in this country has a grype about something and if they all took to the streets in peaceful demonstrati...
Blenheim by David Green(1974) clearly shows pike with Tallard in the coach, the only other thing it could be as you do'nt see the carriers are lances but that would open up another kettle of fish.
the part that shows Tallard in Marlbrough's coach after his capture definitly show pike blocks, but it could be artistic licence to get a prespective of distance.
