Donnybrook at Sea

Great game last night using the scenario in the book, slightly adapted. One question.
How do you handle ships firing at troops on land? It felt too deadly, but maybe we did it wrong.

Charge distance in terrain

A rules question; a charging model moves 6” in the charge phase. Is the affected by terrain? We played that it was, but the rules don’t say.

I’ve seen a few posts on this subject, but it is certainly an issue for Pirate games where most units have some sort of ranged weapon (pistols, muskets, blunderbusses, bows, thrown spears).
