Re: Cravat and tassels also for French Cavalry

Arnaud Bunel on his site, "Vexillologie militaire européenne", also shows the Gendarmes of the Maison du Roi with cravattes and tassels.

Jim;

From my driveway to the Brazos River Crossing in Waco is right at 90 miles, straight down Interstate Highway 35 going south. Just "down the road aways" as we say here in Texas.

Re: One Battle to rule them all - 1660 to 1721

Edward, My apologies as well. I seem to have difficulty with the engagement of the "clutch" in my brain. It just jumps in to gear and information starts coming out before I can apply the brakes and engage the clutch. :roll: Günter, Alle sind gut, der gut beendet. Es ist gut zu sehen, dass wir viele ...

Re: One Battle to rule them all - 1660 to 1721

Günter, Very, very familiar with Dr. Picouet's excellent "Spanish Tercios" site. It's one that I've had bookmarked for a couple of years now, since his original site through another host. I've corresponded with Dr. Picouet in the past and we have used him as a source for articles on the "Wars of Lou...

Re: One Battle to rule them all - 1660 to 1721

For me the choice would be between a brief campaign and a single battle. The campaign would be Turenne's final campaign in the Rhineland from 1673 til his death at Salzbach in 1675, campaigning against his old foe Montecuccoli. This would also feature the exploits or misadventures of young John Chur...

Re: Grenadiers à Cheval de la Garde

Ian, Already done, at least to some degree, here: http://www.leagueofaugsburg.com/fightingtalk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3319 By a very good painter and modeler. If you follow the links to Steve's blog, he has actually done two posts on these figures and one on the Infantry (which his painting is quite ni...

Re: Gardes te Voet

Clarence; Can't speak to the Cadets, but as to the "recent" article detailing the colours, the author drew from an article that I did on the Garde de Voet on the "Wars of Louis Quatorze" blog quite awhile ago. Here are the links to the two articles that I did: One on the regiment and it's history, i...

Re: Looking For A Couple of Austrian Flags

Thank you for the link Sir! I have used the Xenophon Group before (former publishers of "Gorget & Sash" as the early Modern Warfare Society). By comparing notes between this source and Hall's CD, I at least have the relevant arms of the Colonel's at the time of Marsaglia and should be able to "cobbl...

Looking For A Couple of Austrian Flags

Have checked my Hall CD and Sapherson's book on the subject, and find I need a couple of Austrian flags from 1693. Hall has IR 10 Stadel, but I still need IR 11 Saxe-Neuberg and IR 19 Württemburg. I'm looking for both Colonel's and Battalion flags (or colours if you will) that will work for 1693. Th...

Re: First Look at Wargames Factory WSS Cavalry

Yes, the heads, torsos and arms are all compatible. That means you can also create a Dragoon mounted drummer if you wish. Or use spare Cavalry arms with the Infantry sets, so that you can finally get a proper-looking sword for the dismounted officer, or a pistol for your Bavarian Grenadiers.

Re: Help Needed on Bavarians in Savoy Service

Dfogleman2;

I was able to view a reasonably-sized image, and have contacted Historicher Bilderdienst about the cost for just one or two plates delivered digitally (which service they say is available). This should take care of my needs. Thanks for the great tip!

Re: Help Needed on Bavarians in Savoy Service

Dfogleman2;

Looks like the best lead I've had so far. Any suggestions or ideas on how I can view it short of buying the entire 25 Euro collection? I tried clicking on the hyperlink for individual pages and it doesn't work. Thanks!

Re: Help Needed on Bavarians in Savoy Service

Already have that one, thanks. Probably should mention that I have or have checked the following sources already without success: Hoffman's "Armies of the Blue King" Condray's "Danes, Bavarians and Prussians" Wilson's "The Bavarian Army 1685 to 1715" All of Gian Carlo Boeri's articles on Savoy from ...

Help Needed on Bavarians in Savoy Service

Gentlemen; I'm hoping someone out there has information on the flags for the Bavarian regiment Steinau in Savoy service prior to and at the battle of Marsaglia, 1693. I have the uniform info and all of the info on the Leibregiment, but no colours for Steinau. Any assistance will be gratefully apprec...

First Look at Wargames Factory WSS Cavalry

Thought some of the lads in the mess would enjoy these. There has been much said about the Wargames Factory WSS figures, including some by me, and not always complimentary. However, as my friend and "Wars of Louis Quatorze" co-host demonstrates, they can be very effective when well-painted. For thos...
