Re: All or Nothing Charge

This rule was being adopted as the default setting for multi squadron cavalry regiments which is why I moved it to the optional section. It was an 'in extremis' rule which gained popularity because some players could see the win potential in it. That, as anyone who knows me well, is not, how it was ...

Re: Stand and fire question.

Joe has that rare talent for being both eloquent and to the point simultaneously! I see where you are going there Schomberg with your Enniskilleners! The stand and fire check effectiveness is not range based but as Joe describes it 'intestinal'. Are the men grim, calm and determined or neurotic, ner...

Re: Wheeling as part of a Charge

Chaps, the reduction in movement for the 'realignment' prevents any need to measure a 'wheel'. You won't need the template for this. The template is meant for use in ordinary wheeling no a pre-charge realignment which is pretty much down to chance. A realignment during a charge simply allows you to ...

Re: Wheeling as part of a Charge

Wheeling is at half rate for close order infantry in line so, infantry (except Swedes, loose order and tribal infantry) can only wheel two inches. Horse can wheel 4 inches in line or 8 inches in column of march. Charging cavalry which realign by wheeling do not do it the way you have described. See ...

Re: French Guard cavalry

The rules allow for a certain degree of 'localization' . So, no blanket GA are Bullet and French are Blade in the NYW and a reversal in the WSS. More of - the majority of each side follows the accepted pattern and an agreed proportion of each can be the opposite ie: NYW French mainly Blade but an ag...

Re: Imperialist Cuirassiers

Hello Joe, the Imperialist special rules supersedes the disorder definition in the rules. Yes the rule applies if they have lost the first round of combat - in fact, this is the very circumstance it was created for. Second situation is exactly as you fought it. One casualty is always taken by each s...

Re: Gun Carriage Colors

during the TYW/ECW period some may well have been painted but I don't think specific colours were specified as there were no national armies and the regulation of such items was in most cases not standardized.

Re: LOA Armies

I am just working on the Army Builder guides for the new GNW/Eastern Wars supplement to Beneath the Lily Banners 3rd Edition. The book is being laid out now. My suggestion for a starter army for the Imperialists would be: 4- 6 infantry battalions (pikes if pre 1685, none if later) - these could be '...
