In fairness to the new owners of WI, a magazine is only as good as it's contributors (Barry!) and I suspect when those inevitable months come along when they're a bit short of variety to fill the mag - the FoW staff writers will take up the slack. So I fully expect (and don't really mind) the odd Fo...

Oh - and I've already pre-sold three copies this week, sight unseen, to local customers based on the reputation of Under the Lily banners alone.
Heaven knows what we'll shift now we can actually show customers a copy!

Our complimentary copy (because of our advert) arrived at Eureka Miniatures in Melbourne yesterday, in advance of our stock (Yes - we'll be official Republic to Empire sellers - for those Down Under who haven't ordered their copies direct from the UK yet). I finally got to have a good look this lunc...

I started off using Bruce Quarrie's rules Jim God, not another one. That 33:1 scale was a real pain but I think the best at the time. Me too! A whole generation of Napoleonic gamers must have cut their teeth on the original 'Aifix Guide' version of those rules. My old red hardback copy is so thumbe...

Sorry - Another blatant plug... The 1792-1798 Austro-Hungarian infantry have just gone up on the Eureka Miniatures website. http://www.eurekamin.com.au/ They should be up on The Miniatures Page (TMP) for the uniform fundamentalists to tear them apart in the next couple of days or so. :D

They learnt very quickly - on the job  Sorry Barry - my comments were meant to be constructive and not chuck any spanners in the works. It all sounds excellent - as is! Like I said - just ignore me. 8) Good lu...

Barry Well done - and my thanks as well for taking the time to include this. That all sounds very good. I have just one observation to make I think - They will recover more EASILY from Retreat and Rout than everyone else I agree - from about 1796 onwards - but for the earlier campaigns French units ...

Napoleonic Tour de France

If anyone happened to watch the Tour de France yesterday (Tuesday 21st July) you would have seen the riders re-tracing the exact route of Napoleon's famous crossing of the Alps via the Grand St Bernard Pass into Italy in 1800. Nice and sunny at this time of year, but watching the excellent footage o...

Laziness perhaps, as a conspiracy with Citadel is unlikely seeing that the Flames of War people have an arrangement with Vallejo.

Forgive me if I'm being a bit dense but why would l'ordre mixte be anything different than a regiment whose battalions are arrayed two in column, one in line and advancing as a whole at the rate of the slowest formation? You’re not being dense at all rcherk – we’ve all been deceived to some extent ...

Re: R&E - Revolutionary Wars

Rather than produce the whole of the passages from Detaille, I have extracted what I hope are pertinent notes which would have a bearing on encompassing the Revolutinary Wars. As I was doing this it seemed to me that there are perhaps parallels between the early history of the French Revolutionary ...
