Re: Wargames factory WSS question

"And "Hi" Bill :D" Hello there my friend! Still riding about playing soldier and waving swords and such? I haven't seen you on the WF Forum lately, at least not since the Cavalry was unveiled and we offered our comments. 8) Hope you didn't mind my posting your pic of the Bavarians, its one of the be...

Re: Light troops & Smaller actions 1680 1700

EvilGinger; While still not true "skirmish" actions or "light troops", you might do better to game a "kleine krieg" in North America. You could use the figures for the Carignan-Salliers regiment or the Compagnies Franches de la Marine and add American Indians and British and settlers for some small ...

Re: Wargames factory WSS question

Alex - Glad to see you finally got your order sorted out after the management change, and it looks like it was to your advantage! Excellent job on the pic's shown. Lord Marcus - Your sample sprues (I'm sending two) will go out in the next day or two, have fun with them. I think you are on the right ...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Bart; You are most likely correct, which is why I said earlier that I was "rationalizing" and dropped my request for a copy. I appear to be missing four issues and have already initiated a post on Bartertown to try and locate them. Thanks for the heads-up on Caliver, but they only have the one issue...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Mike (Rebel); Good thought on the Queen's Dragoons, and white facings would introduce a new color into the brigade. I am using Wargames Factory plastics with both their floppy hats and some Warlord floppy hats from their ECW figures, and I was going to paint them in black gaiters. As it stands now, ...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Bart, I understand what you are saying, and you are correct as far as it goes. Perhaps I'm too much of a luddite or just very sensitive to such issues, but we are still talking about up-loading copyrighted material, without express permission to do so, to a hosting site that can be accessed by multi...

Uniform Help Needed From Someone With Access To Hall

Gentlemen; Needing a bit of help to resolve a conflict between sources. I'm looking at the Walloon regiment in French service Robecque, specifically in the 1690's for the Italian campaign. In issue #52, Mark Allen offers up Robecque in red coat with medium blue cuffs, waistcoat and breeches, and whi...

Re: Wargames factory WSS question

lord marcus; I suppose it depends on what you consider "acceptable". Are they correctly-detailed in every respect as any single identifiable nation? No. Can they easily be assembled in multiple positions, which many gamers prefer today? No. Are they suitably "generic" enough to be used as rank & fil...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Jim (and Gentlemen); We are now talking about uploading Duncan's copyrighted material to a hosting site where it can be accessed by multiple parties. I would not support this, at least not without written permission. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't have a problem with one friend sharing a copy with o...

Re: French Regiment - La Reine flag question

Greg, Short answer - Don't know. The flag for La Reine is also shown with the fleur-de-lis and crowns on the French vexilollogie site hosted by Arnaud Bunel, and dated at 1661 on that site. http://www.drapeaux.org/Accueil.htm (select France, Ancien RĂ©gime, Infanterie, La Reine). The literal translat...

Re: Identification of a Unit, Help Needed

Gentlemen; I may possibly require a good Homer Simpson-esque smack to the head. While doing some further "digging" for another issue, I took a second look at Mark Allen's WI article on the battle honors of the French Infantry. Lo and behold, next to the regiment Clare is listed "Italy, Marsaglia". S...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Thanks Jim, but I have both of those issues. I wasn't sure if Mark Allen ever followed-through on the comment in issue 54 about referencing the Irish Dragoons along with the French Dragoons and Cavalry. If he did, I haven't found it and I thought someone else may have. Appreciate the offer very much...

Identification of a Unit, Help Needed

Gentlemen; On the OoB for Catinat's army at the Battle of Marsaglia (1693), there is a unit listed described only as "Clarke" and brigaded with the Irish Limerick regiment in d'Husson's division. This division also contained 2 btns. of the Irish Queen's regiment (or La Reine d’Angleterre) as well as...
