Curassier,

Dutch grenadier caps were of various designs. The FR grenadier has a cap based on that of regiment Friesheim. Various other cap designs were in use. The existing caps we know of are in the uniform colours of their regiment (Van Els, Pallandt).

Hope this helps some,

Dan,

I have to agree with you, I've misinterpreted some of my sources. Although the marines were recruited in the Netherlands and their flags were made there, Von Bolsey's regiment was a Brandenburg regiment indeed.

Best regards,

Dan, According to my sources, Von Bolsey's marines were founded in 1674. The regiment was composed of 534 men -in 4 companies- and was formed in Den Briel (The Netherlands) in Dutch service. In June 1675 there were 569 men enlisted. The regiment took part in the action against the Carlsborg redoubt ...

I forgot to mention the Terence Wise book ''Military Flags of the World in Colour (1618 - 1900)'', which also has some flags of the period. One of them is from a 1674 Brandenburg marine regiment in Dutch service.

OK, this is what I have right now, there's more to come. Regiment Wassenaer-Sterrenburg , later Beaumont, also known as the Old Guards, 1668 Yellow flag, gold lion surrounded by a gold laurel wreath, surmounted by a ducal crown. The colonel uses the same design on a white flag. Taken from `Vertoogh ...

Dear Jim, Pike! :) Mats Hi Just got my first LoA figures to paint and want to include some dutch troops. However as being new to the period wasn`t sure if the dutch still used pikes or had all musketeer units or was there a mix of units . cheers Jim.

From experience, warping can be prevented if you first prime the base on both sides, before applying media. If you want to get the base texture like Brian you'll need to apply considerable amounts of 'stuff' which, when it dries will create contraction stresses which in turn could warp even 3mm if y...

Hi Rob,

"Cantabrians" (or Celts) were active in both Spanish and French 18th century armies. The Spanish 'branch' were active in the New World, a tad more intel on the French branch can be found here:

Hope this helps,

Mats
