Re: Gardes te Voet

According to an earlier post by someone who no longer wants his posts on here, :), the cadets had gray coats lined red. They constisted of one company attached to one of the battalions. IIRC the post also stated that one of the battalions stayed in England.

Re: Help Needed on Bavarians in Savoy Service

Let me know what you come up with. I have an old project of 15mm Hallmarks based on Marsaglia, but like most things i never finished it. Maybe I will dig them out!

Re: Help Needed on Bavarians in Savoy Service

However, it might be here: http://www.historischer-bilderdienst.de/images/kontaktabzugsf34.jpg The images are so small I can't reas the text, but if you know what one of the other flag...

Re: Brandenburg Uniform Question (battle of the boyne)

In the last century FG de Wilde produced drawings of 42 Dutch infantry regiments from around 1700, now in the Dutch Army Museum. He cites the dates of his sources, if not always the sources themselves. Many of the sources are from the 1680s and 90s. If you scroll down you will find Prince Albrecht v...

Re: Brandenburg Uniform Question (battle of the boyne)

At this stage NCOs on some armies could be dressed In "reverse" colors as was the case with officers in some regiments. Don't know if this was the case here, but I am thinking about doing it if I don't find any evidence to the contrary. In any event, NCOs usually wore silver or gold lace in place of...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Sir William, for the Queen's dismounted dragoons you might think of going with the facing color of the Queen's foot in 1686, which I think was green. That way you could distinguish between the King's and Queen's dragoons.

If you read French try Histoire Militaire Du Règne De Louis Le Grand, Roy De France By Charles Sevin de Quincy. You can find it on Google Books and Amazon sells a reprint of it.

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Hall lists Roi d'Angleterre as 45 in his study. He says the uniform is unknown but says "red and blue?" in parentheses. Reine d'Angleterre is listed as 46. Uniform is unknown. Guidons for both are unknown.

"I think, that Cadogan had a dog, but I cant remeber it's breed."

IIRC Front Rank's Cadogan figure has a dog with it. Whether it's the right breed, dunno.
