Re: Dragoons in Nine Years War

It's not do easy to determine, even in one coutry. Jest recently I realized that small french armies in italy have more dragoons that huge armies in Flanders, and thus dragoons can form up to 40% of cavalry (at Staffarda) compared with 10% in Flanders.
Try to examine some OOBs.

It's something similar to Robert Hall's book (same depth of research) but without colour plates (only flat figures painted by Klaus himself), so you must read German to find all informations.

Re: Battle of Killiecrankie 1689 - Order of Battle

would any of the clan units be wearing uniforms, or just highlander dress?
It's also discussed in Reid's book.
He concluded that Higlanders wore plain shirts.

Re: Polish infantry of the GNW

On uniforms basically no one knows what the Polish infantry looked like. I agree. They could of been wearing 'Eastern' style uniforms like on the page linked to above -http://www.wfgamers.org.uk/resources/C18/faq.htm. There are some theories that they could also wear western style uniforms with Pol...

Re: GNW Russian range.

The frustrating thing though is that its hard to puzzle out what the captions say, not being able to read Russian. I can put it into google translate, but I find the cyrillic typing slow going, and half the time it doesn't result in the info I'm looking for. Which pictures would be most usefull to ...

Re: Destructive and Formidable: British Infantry Firepower

Hmmmm...
Does the author really believe that British (I would rather say - Allied) army won the battle of Blenheim thanks to those 8000 English infantrymen (merely 15% of the total troops), two-thirds of them locked against fortified village, they never seriously assaulted ... ?

There is some evidence that they could sometimes wear floppy hats in 18th century as well. Look at my blog:
