Re: Commander Ability

Thanks for the feedback guys. My idea was to take away some of the control the player has, for, as written, even if I'm limited to giving 6 of my 24 units orders, I still get to choose WHICH units get them- not the way it works in real life! Joe, your random "interpretation of orders" would indeed p...

Commander Ability

OK, I have yet to play a game but was wondering how most of you use the "Commander Ability" rules. I take it that, as written, just the player/CinC rolls for his side to determine the number of units that can be ordered, which does simulate some of the vagaries of command and control, but I thought ...

Mysterious sergeant

Barry and Clib, Recently I received several packs from Le Roi Soleil (thanks for the great service Robert!) and discovered I had an unknown replacement in my pack WLOA12 as well as my B006. Instead of the nicely posed sergeant pointing shown on the left of the pack photo(which I really wanted), I re...

Re: New Book on Saxon Army in the GNW

I've never heard of this company-probably because I can only read English :( Looks like I need to brush up on my 30+ year-old highschool German and get this book!

Gamers in the central plains?

Well, having not come across a "opponent finder" on this fine forum I will use my favorite period board to seek out members in the central plains of the US. I live in Des Moines, Iowa which, unfortunately, has a dearth of historical gamers. Having no wish to go it solo, I would like to meet up with ...

Ah, yes, after reading a bit I see how the whole thing unfolded. Per is doing some great stuff, I wish I was over there to take part.
I found his posts in the Baccus forum, here is a link:

Re: Klissow (1702) Refight

Ooops! Sorry, I knew that, but the G&T I was drinking convinced me otherwise.
Anyhoo, love the 6mm stuff which makes a battle of thousands look the part. I think it's time to get my mighty Holstein-Gottorp Army started!

Nice looking table. That center looks to be impassable, what are all those Russians defending it for?

Re: BLB2 ground scale and ranges

Ha ha! Yes, I'm one of those serious, reality based weirdos who also sit in the movie theatre and burst out "Oh, that couldn't happen!" My current favorite TV character is Sheldon on "Big Bang Theory" who, on innumerable occasions says, "In what universe ...." You fill in the blank. My wife says She...

Re: BLB2 ground scale and ranges

Barry, Ok, your goal is to get "stuck in" quickly. I assume it also has something to do with using 28mm figures, which look a bit odd moving and shooting out to only 4". As you mentioned, the issue of scale height to distance ratio can get dodgy as, the larger the figure, the perceived need to have ...

BLB2 ground scale and ranges

Barry(or anyone else) I'm new to BLB2 having just received my copy and I immediately noticed something odd(to me, at least) regarding ground scale. Working through the math of the typical 700 man, 3-4 rank, battalion frontages and your base sizes I come to the conclusion that 1" roughly equals 30 ya...
