Re: More Ebor WSS greens

Really nice figures by Nick's team of sculptors, I agree, Arthur. I second your plea concerning the drummer - Oh & the ones I've got are strapping lads that look down at some of the grenadiers! Perhaps some drummer boys ! I too would like to see a variety of officers - they can generally be used in ...

Horse Holders

Hello all! Yes, Greg, I was enjoying the "English Horse-Holders" thread discussion too, so I will try to repeat the tuppence worth I sent, and hope that others will do the same. I find that dragoons can be the most expensive troop type (unlike the historical reality) as you have to provide mounted a...

Re: French cavalry uniforms of the WSS

Gidday, Guys! I used to paint my own flags (Duke of Burgundy's standard was a pain), but with work & family time constraints I now buy them too. I'm with Ray & Jim - Robert Hall CD & sooo many lovely flags!!! I can also heartily endorse the flags by Iain at Flags of War (just ask him to print them a...

Re: WSS-era Artillery and 28mm Front Rank Models

Hello, John & Merry Christmas! I guess how you paint your guns really depends on what you are aiming to achieve with your armies. If like Ray, you are aiming to reproduce an historical orbat, then you are a little more constrained - thanks for that great info on the guns at Blenheim, Ray - Cheers! I...

Yes, Barry, you can chalk me in for a copy of the Irish supplement when it comes out, too.

Cheers & Merry Christmas, Rohan.

Re: Front Rank WSS figures - can I get away with this?

Edward, I'm afraid there are a number of problems - gaiters, turnbacks, lapels, collars, etc, though as suggested you may use some French for 2nd line units, those long posted in far-away garrisons, etc. and possibly the Austrians at a pinch... :? or you could try Eureka Miniatures for WAS types... ...

Re: GNW Swedish grenadiers

Gents,
I'm well away from my "comfort zone" of WSS, but whose cypher is that on the brass grenadier plate, please? Could it be Danish?

Cheers, Rohan.

Iain, now I know why your flags are so good - too dangerous to go out to play!!

Re: WARFARE PERSONALITIES

Barry, I just love the Personality & Command figures. Any chance of the sculptor using the same or similar sculpts but with tricornes & feathers for those of us with a WSS bent to use?? :D I can see a place for the Ruhe figure already with a French Household Cavalry brigade! Cheers, Rohan. (if this ...

Eureka Miniatures Arquebussiers de Grassin

Seasons Greetings, all! I wanted to bring to your attention the excellent mid-18th century figures done by Eureka Miniatures in Australia. I MUST HASTEN TO SAY THAT I AM IN NO WAY CONNECTED TO THE COMPANY EXCEPT AS A SATISFIED CUSTOMER. I have purchased some of their Arquebussiers de Grassin infantr...

Very nice vignette, Ray.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer doing a mobile forge in 28mm?

Cheers, Rohan.

Re: NYW Danish Artillery

Gidday, Ray! Nice models & great paint job! Is the gun also Essex? I confess I can't resist the need to add such an artillery base to my Danes in Marlborough's service, either. The uniform is so wonderfully different, & while there is no evidence there was any such contingent, I can't see any that t...

Re: TAG Renaissance Ottomans - Suitable?

Gidday, Orctrader! The Ottomans are the long time & classic opponent for the Austrian Imperials including the BLB era. I am no Ottoman expert, but I do not recall reading about Ottoman pikemen, but they certainly used muskets & spears & swords aplenty. Their dress was likely very similar for most of...
