American FOW 20mm

Now I was not sure if I should put these here or in the "What are you working on" section They are Bob's 20mm Americans converted from Forces of Valour and Armourfast. With some model kits thrown in. Just thought people might like to see them, (I do) http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll319/Darkman8...

Right let me start by saying that even before the game started I made a mistake. My opponent Mark had under pointed his list so my quickest solution was to upgrade his Neb battery from 3 to 6 barrels. Oh was I going to regret that. To start with then we played a modified Hold the line. The table was...

The hedges are made from polystyrene foam covered in polyfilla and topped with horse hair. The bulidings are scratch built from plasticard, plywood, balsa and plastic girders. a lot of the detail is painted on. Bob has to much time on his hands. Will try to get some photos of his Americans someday. ...

Supports

Hi Barry At last I have had a chance to sit down and go through RtE to see where some of your changes have come from. One thing I noticed was that RtE gives the +1 for 2 friends from own Brigade and no plus or minus if 1 friend from own brigade or 2 others. Was it your intention to bring this over t...

Hi Jim It is a 20mm Game. We used to play Rapid fire but then when FOW came out we converted our stuff to that. The Infantry bases are the same size and the support weapons use the same footprint. All ranges are as for 15mm with the exception that we do not have artillery on table. Just one model on...

FOW hold the line 20mm

Just to have a bit of a change, a few of us got out the 20mm toys the other day and had a bit of a bash. Unfortunately the camera was not available to take piccies. So a couple of us have arranged a game for Tuesday, Brits and Germans over the same terrain. I know that you appreciate a good looking ...

I don't think it is finished yet. If people ask questions like this. Barry, pursuing P.38 When pursuing cavalry come up against fresh enemy, you explain this as deferred to the charge step in the turn; Q1. does the pursuing unit need to test to charge and charge home? Q2. does the pursuing unit do t...

Okay I have looked at the example and worked it out as well as putting units on the table and still cannot work out how a unit that is 3 inches away from a unit at the start and then routs 12 inches can be caught by some one who moves 14 inches. Unless the pursuers move first. :? The only way they w...

Is D2 worth it.

Now nothing smutty here, but does rolling for one extra inch really worth it? Does it add much to the game?

Sorry if this is a bit late. It was something that came up in our last game but was forgotten.

Hi we had no problem with the part about rerolling the combat from scratch in the event of a first round draw. It was the moving around of the figures and what followed next we did not like. So if the rerolling bit can stay in the main rules that would be good. The rest we would say should be option...

I just wondered if enough attention is ever paid to the skirmish battle that tends to take place before the main bodies get to contact. Apologies for not knowing the content of R2E my copy is being obtained at WMMS on the 21st. You tend to see lots of games with lots of nicely painted units with a f...

Long range artillery

How effective should long range Artillery be? Looking at an old posting from Barry it seems that it has a nuisance and a sort of grinding effect on morale. So they would eventually start to demoralise a unit if the unit was receiving continued fire. There seem to be a large number of accounts of uni...

Massed skirmishers

Hi, I have been rereading The Battle: A New History of the Battle of Waterloo by Alessandro Barbero. In it there is a great emphasis on the role of skirmishing on the part of both sides but mainly the French. Now is this just the French sending forward all of the voltigeur companies from each battal...
