Infantry repelling Cavalry LoA/GA

My last couple of post have got me thinking :!: During the Nine Years War / Grand Alliance / League of Augsburg cavalry was repelled by Infantry in Line not square like the napoleonic period. During this period the pike was being replaced with the bayonet. Some regiments were musket and pike and som...

Hello Barry, continuing from above;

Lets take an cavalry clash from History :twisted: . At Blenheim the Gendarmee had 8 sqns vrs English Horse (Ross'?) 5 sqns. Now did the 8 vrs 5 happen in line, multiple lines or sqn columns?

Hello Barry, Very Interesting. What about two or three sqns advanceing in line one behind the other. If one sqn is repelled by pike and fire can the second and then third Sqns line assault a battalion. Or would the first sqn being held back/repulsed disrupt the rest of the cavalry. I guess what I me...

ULB frontage for Cavalry Sqns

Hello Barry A cavalry sqn is six figures on two bases. I am assuming that when a sqn attacks an infantry battalion they attack with six figures in one line. Is the reasoning behind this is that it is the proper frontage of what a sqn would have when charging in line. Is it possible for a sqn to char...

Hello Barry, How are things going with ULB v5? Can't wait :) I know the rules call for 18 man battalions on 3 x stands at 6 apeice. Do you think the rules would work with battalions being 12 men on two stand a peice, with 6 cavalry repersenting two sqns. My reasoning behind this is more battalions a...

Confusion over a couple of the Sun King's Regiments

Hello Gents, I'm currently working on a personal project. I'm doing up a word doc on the French Regiments of Infantry during the reign of Louis XIV. I'm getting most of my infomation from www. drapeaux.org, a very nice french lanaguge site. I'm organizing the Regiments by date formed and what their ...

What if? GNW vrs WSS

Hello forum, just thing what if GNW Swedes fought vrs Anglo-Dutch of French. Anybody ever played above in a gaming situation.

Would Swedes Ga Pa win the day or would Anglo-Dutch fire power be to much for them? Or would French Cavalry restore normal service and sweep the field?

Real Deal (gallery) - 1689 Advance Guard Action

Hello Barry

There was a picture of French Horse overrunning 2 of 3 regiments (Danes, I believe). My favortie picture on your site.

Did you move or change some of them.

Your gallery pictures, I sometimes use as my desktop backgrounds.
