We'll be watching. I apprciate you sharing the photos. It's a real treat to see such fine brushwork. Work of that quality is rarely seen in Houston, Texas and certainly not coming off my painting table.

Ray; the faces on your figures are some of the best I've seen. Can you give us less talented painters a little tutorial? Thanks.

Old Stratagem Miniatures

I have uncovered some of the old Stratagem Miniatures French dragoons, both mounted and dismounted. I have found troopers and drummers but no command figures. Does anyone know if Stratagem ever produced an officer or guidon bearer and, if so, would anyone be willing to part with any? I would need tw...

You could use the figures for any cavalry rgiment from Piedmont-Savoy as they apparently wore the buffcoat in the field right up through the WSS. I also believe that the figures are appropriate for French cavalry in the early 1670's as the blue and grey coats were just being introduced. Some Spanish...

Great work Barry. It looks like 2011 is going to be a great year for the period. Its probably time to get the oldest grandson interested in history and wargaming. I have an idea of just the figures to start with.

Barry;

Glad to hear the news on all fronts. Any quick updates? By the way, I would also be interested in a weekend long game at Historicon if you can swing it.

Best regards,

Bob

I've read some posts on other sites gushing over these figures and I've also heard some negative comments. I'd like to see some painted by Barry or David Imrie before I pass judgement. The current photos make them look more like the old "toy soldiers" than the miniatures which we see now. In any eve...

I can't speak with any authority on French cavalry of the period; however, I have read in several sources that, in the filed, Savoyard cavalry and some Milanese cavalry kept the buffcoat outside of the uniform coat through the WSS. If you kept the cavalry in buffcoats you wouldn't get any argument f...

I'm not sure what you mean by small; however, Ekeren (1703), Speyerbach (1703) and Catiglione (1706) are certainly smaller than the classic Blenheim, Oudernarde, Ramilles, Malplaquet foursome. The Rampjaar blog has some interesting material on Ekeren while Robert Hall has a nice article on Speyerbac...

Jim;

From what I've read, French cavalry often wore the buffcoat in this period (1670s). Gradually, the cloth coat started to be worn over it. Some sources claim that the Savoyard cavalry wore the buffcoat well into the War of Spanish Succession.

Copplestone Glory of the Sun Cavalry

Has anyone seen the Glory of the Sun cavalry? I looked on the Copplestone site but didn't see anything.

Thanks.

New Range

Hello Barry; I really like the new range and hope that it will be a Christmas present. I have several questons but will start with two. The marching musketeers are really animated and look like they are marching on the battlefield. The advancing pike that you have painted will go great but I am wond...

Did Alec mention when the armored pike are going to be released?

Thanks.
